Plateau already?!

Be sure to do some basic measurements as well along with your weigh-ins. I made a nifty excel document for me to log everything and show me changes between measurements. Some good ones to keep track of are neck, chest, waist, hips, quads, and biceps. Sometimes you can't rely on just the scale when your clothes are fitting better.

I am 2 weeks out and have lost 10 lbs since surgery. I lost 7 pre op. Since the start of pre-op I've lost 37.5 inches! I measure everything from my double chin all the way to my ankle. NSV's are that little pat on the back I need to keep going.

I'm 2 weeks post-op and have lost a whopping 6 lbs. Sure hope it gets better because right now it doesn't seem worth the trouble. I am a "lightweight" -210 on surgery date - and I know I won't lose as rapidly as someone who has more to lose. I'm now wondering if the malabsorption has significantly affected by hypothyroid meds and I'll now need a higher dose. Sigh.

@@sherriswain, the hypothyroid issue happened to me very rapidly. I was post op 30 days and my hair started falling out like crazy. I knew it was too soon for the surgery Hair loss to effect me so I got in to see my endocrinologist and sure enough I had lost enough weight that my dose had to be lowered.

It might be worth checking.

I am 4 mos. post-op RNY. I hit a plateau for 3 weeks in February. Boy was I pissed! I just saw my endocrinologist 2 weeks ago, and am now hyperthyroid. She lowered my dose by half. I was on 250 mcg/day; now 125. I'm honestly scared it will turn back to hypothyroid and I'll either gain or not lose. My hair is a mess. I started losing it a month ago. I keep cutting it shorter, because it's not styling nicely and is so darn thin. This has been the most frustration since surgery.

I started tracking every bite of food 4 days ago, and am already seeing the weight come down some. I'm avoiding carbs like the plague and trying very hard to get my Water in.

Sorry - if you have hypothyroidism, you are usually prescribed levothyroxine or synthyroid. These drugs can be affected by the malabsorption issue, from what I understand.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
