Just got back from my shrink appt and im terrified! I don’t know how im gonna deal with the psycological issues im gonna have with emotional eating and my smoking habits. Those are the only things in my life I like and im gonna have to cut them out! I have an addictive personality and Im scared of not having that comfort food anymore and all. UGH! I wanna crawl in a hole!

Please dont worry about the enjoyment of eating issue, I was banded 26th May & i am actually enjoying that i am not thinking about food 24/7 & even if i was i coulnt have it. If you have been obsessed about food like forever then it is sooooo nice not to be hungry for a change & focus everything around whether you should eat or not then feeling guilty. Its no walk in the park having the surgery & recovery but you would not belive how much more time you actually have when food isnt the goal.

I wish you luck as its certainly worked for me so far xx

I know this is hard to believe but I switched my thinking about food all the time to exercise. I would get a high from it . It would make the scales go down which would get me high too.

It could happen for you too!?

Best wishes,

edie

HI, don't worry. I was banded on March 20th and quit smoking May 5th. I am scheduled a little later than usual for my first fill on June 5th. Weight loss has been a little slow at 24 lbs but I feel great and believe I will be less hungry when I get my fill.

You will be fine. I too was and still are addicted to food. It is a Friend, but if your friend is not good for you, than you have to say bye. Easier said then done, I know. I was banded 2 weeks ago and when I saw the shrink and the Dr and read the post on here about, having trouble getting all your required amounts down, I thought they were crazy. I would never be able to not to get it all in and more. It is true... getting it all in is the hardest thing I have to do in a day. I find myself going long periods without thinking about food, because the hunger is GONE. It's wierd. This is the easy part, the liquid phase. The hard part is when you get past all this and have to learn to eat real food. But, for the past 2 weeks, I have learned one thing about myself, I really didn't need all that Ice Cream and pizza. I can l ive without it. Being around lots of food is still hard, but I put pants on yesterday that I haven't worn in 5 years. That felt way better than those Ribs last weekend at the BarBQ.

I am 24 pounds lighter today than I was the beginning of March. That feels great. The band is the tool, what you do with it is what counts.

Chin up and go for it. The pain of the first week was well worth it and I'd do it again, I only wish I would have done it a year ago when I thought of it first.

The better you start to feel about yourself for quiting, the more you won't want to use those things. I hear you though, I was a werk until about a week ago days before my surgery, but now I feel like I'm the coolest person i the world for facing my addictions. YOU CAN DO IT! And you will love yourself once you do:)

I so know how you feel. I quit smoking and my food was my addiction once the nicotine was out. I still get head hunger (craving some of the Pasta I made for my family last night) but it's different. I don't want it now. I like the thought of it, but the reality of it does nothing for me. I don't know how to explain it other than you'll be okay.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
