I need some advise from long-time bandsters

Recommended Posts

I am not sure what to do. My last fill was a little less than a year ago. My weight has remained stable for about 8 months but i am still about 40 pounds from my goal. This is my problem - i am having trouble eating healthy food since my last fill. I can't eat salads, most chicken (except most, processed chicken),yogurt, eggs, hardly anything for Breakfast. I am thinking that i might be better off having a little un-fill which will enable me to eat the salads, veggies, healthy meats. I do worry that maybe I won't eat so healthy if the band is loosened but i don't think that is a big concern. Sometimes I go almost all day without any Protein. This has been going on for awhile but i am starting to feel sluggish. Anyone have a situation similar to mine? What do you suggest?

Thanks in advance.

I would have an unfill, just not too much. It can't hurt anything. I think it is unwise to be to tight, that is what causes slippage.

I would definitely get a slight unfill and start counting calories. Just make sure you stay from 1k-1200 a day. You should be fine. Also, bump up your exercise so you can start losing again. Good luck.

I would definitely go in for the unfill. You will have to be careful not to eat bad stuff, but that's going to be true no matter how lose/tight you are.

Well I got to tell you the truth, the food that consistantly goes down nice and easy is the junk food. popcorn, pretzels never give me any problem and that is why i am not losing weight. I am eating crap instead of the healthy food. I have been thinking about this for a while but now i am feeling really sluggish which is new for me. I think i will call the doctor tomorrow

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
