10 days out, I'm 4 days out and feeling that way too!

Very excited but wow! I feel like I need to be surrounded by it right now but don't know anyone.

Besides Water and Protein shakes, I don't really have anything else for post-op. Was told to know what I like but to get very little since we don't know what my body will handle.

How are you preparing for post op first two weeks?

I bought a Gummy multi Vitamin with a little Fiber from Walmart, bought Calcium and Iron chewable from Celebrate Vitamins. I stocked up on different pre-made broths. I bought a taste-free Protein add-in called GENEPRO on Amazon(to add to any Water, broths,Gatorade I can tolerate post-op) and found that I like a Protein shake from Arbonne Essentials. I just ordered the nectar sample pack from Syntax yesterday, 18 different flavors to try. A veteran from this site told me to have something on hand for the surgical incisions, like tips, neosporin, gauze and paper tape. Also, bring a pillow to hold over your stomach for the jolts on the ride home. I need to get some sugar-free Jello cups and sf popsicles (if I can keep the Hubs out of them!). I know this sounds like a lot, but we live rural and if I don't have it at the house, it takes an act of congress to get it! I get a little nuts about being prepared, my control issues run deep!

And, hey, you are NOT alone! We are all right here, in the same place you are, having the same worries. Reach out to a veteran. Look at their info under their names and message someone who looks like you/your situation. I did. She has been fantastic. Totally wide open. There is zero TMI factor! She even told me to bring extra cheap underwear as she went the diarrhea direction instead of the Constipation route. Those are the gory details us pre-oppers need! And I am on here all the time. Buddies, right?

Yes, thank you! I'm trying to find these areas on the site. Most of the things just listed I had not been told. It's all been about drink Water and get in Protein.

I've found some high Protein Liquid Protein shakes I like that my Dr. said counts towards liquids.< /p>

But, most post-boppers are saying that your "taste" changes after surgery. The Syntrax nectar sample pack seems like a good idea since it will give you 18 flavors to try. Less than $20. And consider a flavorless high pro mix-in that you can add to whatever you are getting to go down after surgery.

I've got crazy hiccups now. That's a little on ouchy side for sure! I didn't keep it a secret from anyone but I definitely had people telling me not to do it. Just diet and exercise more. Those people obviously didn't understand me. I would tell them I am doing it because it's the best choice for me and I'm happy that that is what works for them.

@@Justajenn, how are you feeling today?

I'll get Vitamins today, I've been meaning to get it done. I'm excited for you too, the 16th is soon. Two weeks ago feels like yesterday.

My main worry is keeping my head clear so it doesn't affect my job, and losing the first five weeks because I'm going to the Grand Cayman Islands with work and I'd like to be down a little at least. Only 5 weeks, but it adds up! The trip is a perk only announced two weeks ago and it's a group and the dates march 5-9 were set. Shouldn't complain, but really bad timing!

Anything weighing on you?

You will love Grand Cayman. We were there last year and really enjoyed ourselves. Bring your sun-block!

I guess my main problem is keeping this a secret from the kids. We have 4 grown sons and 3 daughter in laws and we are a very close knit family. They are all doing their own things, busy with kids, jobs, and I just do not want the boys to be worrying about their momma. I have a fantastic husband who is totally supportive and agrees with the no-tell decision. We live at the beach and a crowd of them are headed this way later today. I have to be able to pull off the mom's on a strict diet routine! Mom has never been on a diet that they know of, so things are going to get interesting.

@ justajenn - I hope you're feeling better and hiccups are gone. I haven't had anyone tell me not to do it but that's because I have acquaintances, not friends since I'm kind of a loner.

I hope now you're getting more support are time goes on.

What kind of a pre-op diet are you doing?

I was going to keep a secret but it's slowly gotten out amongst those closest to me in the last week although it's not discussed. No one knew up until now, the very end.

I think m about ready to go. My discharge at 7 got pushed because I was vomiting again then at nine we tried again and I made it to the reception are to wait for my shuttle and started vomiting again. The doctor came out and brought me back to my room and said we wait another couple hours and if I'm still sick he will do an X-ray. I'm up and went for a walk and think I'm good now so hopefully back to the hotel I go!

I hope you will keep us posted. Odd, I don't know you at all personally but I truly care and do know you in other ways that only those of us that live the life of an obese person can understand. I am thinking of you and hope you feel better soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
