I am 5 days out and following the menu given to me after the hospital. I feel very hungry still. I just had for lunch 1/4cup of cream of mushroom Soup and 1/3 cup Protein Shake. I feel like I could have had a whole bowl of soup. Why do I not feel full?

I remember those days in the beginning. I was convinced that he really didnt take any stomach out! Its hard to feel full on just liquids. I promise you'll feel your resistance once you are on solids. Just keep following the instructions!

You are also used to eating for energy at the time of surgery, and your body is trying to burn fat and muscle right after surgery to get that energy. Your head is definitely telling you to eat more. I remember eating cream of chicken Soup and having more than I thought I would be able to, and even now I can chug (reasonably) Water and other fluids. But when they ok'd cream of wheat and oatmeal, I noticed that I could only finish about 1/3 of a packet. 3 months out, I still can't finish a whole packet of oatmeal. You will feel the limitations more when you get into fuller foods. The important thing during the full liquid phase is to eat slow because you don't want to put pressure on the staples and cause a leak. I also tried sugar free sucky candy during that time, to keep my mouth busy so I wasn't always thinking about food, but even the sugar alcohols they use in those can give some sleevers tummy aches so be careful.

Hang in there! It gets better! In the early days on liquids/purees I was super hungry. At about 4 weeks things turned around....

It's most likely gas. I had the hunger for about 8 days post op with loud growling. It then went away and I now I never feel hunger. I must remind myself to eat. Just wait it out, it will get better.

Could be gas. Also try to eat super slow. I found that if I ate slower my brain and belly had that 20 - 30 mins time frame needed to communicate and I would indeed feel full. By the time I could drink Water I would sometimes feel to full to even sip it.

Acid also mimics hunger, so make sure you're taking enough Prilosec/zantac/omeprazole!

I was instructed to always eat Protein first for meals and if I was hungry between meals to go for something with Protein, i.e. Protein Bar. Protein is always my first choice because it is for satiating than something that doesn't have much protein in it. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury has a chicken Soup flavor that might help you through the liquid and pureed phase of your post-op meals.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
