Sometimes I regret telling people...

Recommended Posts

About my RNY. :( I get people are excited for me. Well so am I. But I am not losing very fast at all and it makes it hard coming to work each day and people are excited to ask me how I did or how am I doing with my weightloss. :( The scale is NOT moving very fast. More like at a snails pace. Sigh... I had surgery on 12/18/14 and I am down 16 pounds since the surgery.

Anyone else regret telling about their surgery?

That is so rough. Are you eating carbs? I really can't recommend enough not eating many carbs, less than 20 grams a day. It makes a huge difference!!

Also discontinue your Protein shakes and go to solid Protein forms. It keeps you full much longer and it's less caloric.

Start at the gym lifting weights and cardio. Start small and increase every week. Not only will you lose faster, you will feel more productive and in control or your life and body. You will feel empowered.

Otherwise just hang in there! You will get there eventually. It takes time and patience but it will happen.

Don't worry about what other people think. They all love you and they want the best for you that is all. They are routing for you. Express to them your frustration. Everyone!!!! Know s how hard weight loss can be. They will sympathize.

In fact if you make it look to easy, sometimes people get jealous! Everyone wants to route for you when something is actually tough and you have to show your commitment I'm sure they only have your best interest at heart and if you just let people know it's coming off but slowly, no one is going to judge you. Communication is the key.

Weight loss is a touchy subject Most people don't even say anything about my weight loss because they don't want to offend me! It makes me kinda sad when no one comments. People don't want to tread on feelings which is understandable. So just smile and try to stay positive

I know exactly what you mean Anne! My loss is going at a snail's pace also. 18 pounds down since RNY on 12/10/14. I actually ran into someone I had told today and he asked if I ever had it done. Makes me feel terrible!

My surgeon doesn't have his patients use shakes or liquid Proteins of any kind, so I've been on purees since Day One. I am 2 weeks out from surgery and getting about 60-70g Protein per day across 3 meals and no Snacks. If you're on myfitnesspal, you can friend me to see what I'm eating for ideas.

Hi hang in there just remember to follow your doctors rules and goals the weight will come off . In regars to telling coworkers I have not told anyone and I still get ask the questions constantly what are you doing to loose weight , even if you tell people they are not willing to take the necessary steps to be healthy. Focus on one day at a time and eating healthy. When your coworkers ask about your weight just tell them it's an ongoing process to being healthy and your staying the course good luck . By the way loosing weight slowly has beniits it allows you skin to stretch back in place .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
