Need advice please

Recommended Posts

I am a year and a half post op. I have lost almost 60 lbs. I take 12+ scripts a day and have a dozen or more chronic conditions. I have no regret in my decision for lapband. But since 6 months post op I have been losing what little hair I had. I need to have ideas on how I can get more Protein in my diet that aren't too complex...on a low budget...a deep depression and can't make myself eat much. I have only 3 cc in my band. So if you can help...Tia

I was losing my hair as well and started taking Biotin and drinking powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury every day per my surgeon's advice. That added about 20 additional grams of Protein. Between the Biotin and the Unjury, my hair did eventually come back. Biotin is over the counter and not very expensive. If you buy the big containers of Unjury rather than individual packets, the price is pretty reasonable.

Thx for your suggestions...I have pdr. I haven't tried unsure but will look into it. I did make a cake yesterday...box mix added 2 scoops vanilla Protein pdr (27 g) added applesauce instead of oil and with eggs it was full of protein. But I don't make cakes very often actually years but I worked that one out. I have been going on bariatricpal to get ideas. Made protein balls but not real tasty. Any other ideas would be great when you come across any. Tia

Hi Tia, be sure to keep all your appointment for Followup and maybe see the nutritionist while you're at it -- they may have some good suggestions. I took Biotin, too, and still had some minor Hair loss that had me worrying for a little while. Some one mentioned this may have to do with anasthesia at the time of surgery (the loss comes later 4-6 months). Interesting theory -- I have no idea. Also many medications have hair loss as a side effect. As you get healthier hopefully you will be able to get rid of some of your prescriptions. Make sure your band is working well for you -- put those medical professionals to work! And good luck with all. So glad you're here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
