March 11th is my date! So exctied!

Recommended Posts

March 11th was my surgery date. I started this journey at 242 pounds. I entered surgery weighing 238 lbs. Today I am 222. I'm growing frustrated because I am not seeing the scale move. Trying to be patient.

The best advice I got was from my daughter. She suggested using another method to track my success, other than the scale. Try measuring yourself once a week. You know your clothes are getting loose. Also, weighing once a week instead of daily.

By all measures...you are VERY successful. Twenty nine pounds is great!!! Try to remember that for most of us, it took years to gain the weight...it will take a little time to get it off.

Best wishes on your journey to a new you!

I agree with other users. Try not weighing yourself as often. Plus I measured myself (arms, bust, waist, thighs, hips, etc) early on to help motivate me when I saw changes. I also had my hubby trace my outline on paper. I payed down and he traced my core (bust to hips/legs) to see the changes visually. I plan to retrace on the same paper after 1mth post op to see if there are changes that way. I might not consistently see a lower number on the scale but using these tools, I KNOW my body is shrinking. Keep your head up! :)

P.s. I was sleeved on March 11th too. Feeling stronger everyday!

Hi Everyone! Thought I would check in and see if anyone is still having discomfort around their main incision. Of my five incisions, the main one is really sore. Laughing and sneezing are the enemy right now. LOL

Hi, SBH! My seem OK, the two larger ones and medium one are still sealed with glue. The quarter inch ones lost the glue and seem fine. Although for a week or so my medium bothered me a bit.

I'm curious, did your surgeon use the DiVinci machine?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
