I get so irritated with people that seem to think that Christianity should get a free pass, just because it's Christianity. Know what I mean? Personally, I think a radical extremist is a radical extremist, whether he/she is a Muslim extremist, Christian extremist, or Hindu extremist. One isn't somehow more acceptable than the other.

Lauren - that is one of my pet peeves too. A radical extremist is a radical extremist is a radical extremist.

Canada is a profoundly secular nation and as a result she sees the resultant clamour of all of these faith-based demands as as being kinda crazee. Belonging among those particular interest groups which must be both recognised and protected by our Canadian Charter of Human Rights. This is why Canada has been one of the first of the nations to recognise same sex marriage. This is also why Canada has been notable in refusing to accept religious pundits as mediators on the Canadian political/civil stage.

Canada is a country which houses any number of needy souls. No specific religious belief has been built into Canada's moral character, is all. Same sex marriage is legal up here, eh. That is life, huh....

I agree that same sex marriage should be legal as well green, I myself voted against a measure to make a amendment define what marriage is here in Oregon.

I get sick and tired of people posting questions here that could so easily have been answered by then visiting the FAQ and References Forum. Isn't that what that means? Frequently Asked Questions??? That's the first place I look on any website when I have a question!

Arggghh!!

Rant over... :)

I'm tired of people who do not take responsibility. I cannot tell you how much this irritates me, and what's worse - it's CONSTANT. Parents for their children, people for themselves and their behaviors, individuals for the consequences they invoke. I hate finger pointers. I hate:

____ made me do it.

I had to because of _____.

It's not my fault, I can't help it, I have/was/_____.

Own your friggin actions and reactions. I didn't make you mad, you reacted to something I said with anger. I didn't make your feelings hurt, you reacted to something I said with some emotional affect. This is everywhere. It's one of our worst plagues, a plague of irresponsibility, apathy and ignorance. We're catering to the lowest common denominator.

Yup, one of the most valuable things my father taught me was something he learned in the Army. There were three allowed responses in my house when I was growing up:

"Yes Sir (or Dad)"

"No Sir (or Dad)"

"No Excuse Sir (or Dad)"

None of this whining pansy-ass crap. I didn't do it, it's not my fault, waaa waaa waaaa. If it really wasn't my fault, then I'd get the opportunity to logically DISCUSS the situation and present my side of the story with reasons to back it up.

I'm tired of people who think they're owed something. Again, something that applies all over the place. Be glad you have what you do, and you're ebing given what you're already being given. Want more? Go work for it. Want more than that? Find a way to work more. Quit looking for ways to make it my responsibility to hand it to you.

Hallelujiah! I have often said that if someone jacks my car, they had better hope to God that I don't get my hands on them, because I'd take it out of their hide. You want a car, go get a f$cking job and earn the money for one! There was a story in Detroit last week where three people attempted to carjack a guy RIGHT IN FRONT OF POLICE HQ!!!! No regard for law. Guess what? The guy they tried to jack had a CCW and his gun on him...He shot and killed one of them and the other two were taken into custody. Police: Carjacker Shot During Carjacking - Local News Story - WDIV Detroit

I'm tired of young kids acting like, looking like, and being whores. This is a gender neutral statement. When I was 12 I wasn't worried about whether or not I gave good head. I was worried about making the all-star team. I feel a sick sort of pity for these people. Someone or something has influences their behavior, and as a society we're unequipped and uneducated about what we can to do help. And our culture is rewarding and inciting this behavior. Hmm, I wonder why it doesn't change...

Why on earth do parents buy clothing for thier kids that say Porn Star on it or Juicy on the ass? Nutheads!

I hate tramp stamps. I hate that everything is a lawsuit. I hate infomercials about starving children. I mean - if you feel for them that much, teach them how to shoo a fly while you're there filming.

Amen, sister! I am not a fan of tramp stamps, you know who that's sexy to? The guy who looks at it and says, wow, I bet I could get her bent over a chair in about ten minutes...

And about the children in poor countries? Give them some food while you are there filming the damned commercial.

I should stop now, cause no one wants a novella.

Nah, I love novellas like this!

I HATE tramp stamps, but I still want a tattoo when I hit goal. Not one of those stupid-ass tramp stamps, though. I want a NICE tattoo, maybe a portrait of something or someone. Probably not a tribal, not a trendy Chinese letter, not a flower or star or cartoon character. Not that those are bad, but they just aren't my cup of tea.

Sky-diving and a tattoo, those are my rewards.

I did the skydiving thing when I was 18 before I got too fat, it was GREAT! That's what I'm doing, too.

But I'll do it as soon as I can. For goal (whatever that is) I think I'll buy a used Corvette (if I have the $$).

Very cool rewards! I did the tattoo(s) a bit early, will probably add one more somewhere when I meet goal. I would love to sky-dive, but I keep tearing up parts of my body - requiring surgical repair. But if I can get the shoulder fully repaired by the time I hit goal, I've already asked my nephew to take me sky-diving.

I'm thinking of trying to get a group of bandsters to go together, kind of a group reward for people that've hit their goals. Plus, stuff like that is always more fun when you're in a group.

Definitely more fun in a group! I have 3 tattoos, all of which have special meaning during the time when I got them. Warning, tho - body art can be addictive!

That's okay with me! I actually like the looks of lots of tattoos, as long as they are GOOD tattoos. It's definitely not something that I think should be bargain-hunted, if you know what I mean. I'm willing to pay a bundle for a great tattoo.

I just can't get around the fact that people pick up Hep C when they get tats. I don't know how you can trust them to sterilize like they're supposed to. I am sure there are some luxurious tattoo parlors (relic term) where you feel safe, but I dunno, it scares me. One thing I was told when I got the band is that the band is a prosthesis and if contract certain communicable diseases, like Strep for instance, it can settle in your prosthesis and you can get so sick it can kill you.

I know a very healthy guy who got knee replacement and got Strep and it was the most miserable last 2 months of his life. I won't tell you what all he went through, but it scared the living hell out of me and it was unbelievably sad.

That's why they tell us bandsters to take antibiotics when we go to the dentist, even for just a cleaning.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
