Pregnant Mama Check-in

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Was just wondering if we could have a pregnant mama check-in? How far along? How are you feeling? Any concerns? Weight gain? Boy or girl? Favorite thing about being pregnant?

Hi! I'd like having a place to check it!

I'm 9 weeks pregnant, and 5 months post-op. My weight loss has been slow since getting pregnant, but my ob says it's okay to keep loosing, as long as baby gains. I have my second ultrasound at the end of the month, and I'm really nervous! I haven't had any symptoms besides fatigue and constant peeing, and I want to know it's still growing in there!

On Monday I'll be 31 weeks pregnant with my first child a little boy :-) I'm feeling great just tired....It's been a great pregnancy I can't really complain at all. Aside from sore breast and feeling tired I had no other symptoms. My favorite thing about being pregnant is being able to feel my little man moving around in my belly. My only concern is when am I going to deliver...I'm high risk because of my blood pressure so they are talking about inducing me sometime between 37-39 weeks. As for weight gain I am up 21lbs but didn't really start putting it on until maybe 20 weeks.

I am 15 months out from surgery and am nearly 5 weeks pregnant. I lost 150 lbs in my first year. Have gained back about 15 lbs but i'm slowly losing it naturally by eating healthier and exercising more for baby. Had my IUD removed in November and conceived on Christmas. Not too many symptoms yet other than peeing all the time, and a feeling of fullness in my uterus.

Hi Mama-To-Be's!

I'm 13 months post-op and 15 weeks pregnant with my first child. So far, I've gained about 2 lbs. I was concerned that I wasn't eating and gaining enough since I eat so little now but my baby is growing just fine, according to my OB. My morning sickness has calmed down a lot, however, I can no longer eat sweets especially chocolate because it will immediately make me nauseous. I'm not sure if it's a result of pregnancy or if it is a result of my new sleeve. Either way, it's a good thing.

Early on in my pregnancy, my eating habits were not very good but I was instantly reminded at how sluggish I used to feel pre-op and now with a bun in the oven, I really am what I eat. I now make healthier choices but I do satisfy some of my cravings here and there.

I hope to find out in my next appointment what the sex is. My favorite part about being pregnant is knowing that I can actually get pregnant! When I was nearly 300 lbs, I thought I couldn't get pregnant because it just never happened for us. I became pregnant shortly after losing 100 lbs. It also feels good knowing that I am now much healthier so that I can do fun things with my child that I probably wouldn't have been able to before. I didn't hit my goal weight yet but this is a blessing so losing weight will be a concern once I'm able to hold my baby in my arms! :-)

Congratulations to you all, ladies!

I so wanted to be part of this little group of mama's! I just miscarried at about 6 weeks. This is my 3rd miscarriage, 1st post surgury. Doctor thinks it may not have as much to do with my wrought as originally thought. Please send good vibes my way so that we can figure out what will help me maintain a pregnancy! I'm more than ready to join your club!

I'm very happy for all of you ladies and wish you happy and healthy babies!

I just had my 2 year surgiversary on May 2nd and I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant. This is my first baby, and it's a boy! I'm so excited. :)

So far everything has been great, but I'm considered "high risk" because of my surgical history and weight at pregnancy. I lost a lot with the sleeve but am still obese because I had a lot to lose. It makes me mad to still be pigeon-holed due to my weight when my bp has been fantastic, bw is all great and I passed THREE diabetes screenings (yes, they made me repeat them despite normal results and NO history of diabetes ever!!!!)

I've had to see specialists, get extra u/s, extra EVERYTHING, only to be told that I'm doing well and baby is growing perfectly. I mean, good news is GOOD NEWS, but it's also very frustrating and stressful to manage all this unnecessary medical care. Take my weight out of the equation and I'm having a PERFECT pregnancy!

I'm new to this site. I have recently had a failed IVF cycle and am going to have weight loss surgery in hopes to be able to conceive naturally. Any similar stories?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
