My collarbone is beautiful...

Recommended Posts

Yes, it's true. My collarbones have been missing for the better part of 15 years and now they are back and I find them, well...beautiful. It's funny how when you are heavy, you almost disassociate from your body. Your body is a thing wholly separate from your true self when it is heavy. I always felt like my heavy body had betrayed me and I had betrayed it.

But as I regain my old self, it's important to connect again. And part of that connection is finding little beautiful things about your body.

What do you now find beautiful about yourself?

I agree that we lose our bones. I have some collar bones and also hip bones. When I lay down there they are sticking out! I have shoulder blades and I can bend and reach them when I have an itch. I know it sounds strange but if you haven't been there you will never understand.

Does everyone have those?! :)

That's so cool. I remember reading something someone wrote, and I don't remember who or where, but they felt a bone for the first time and thought it was a tumor. It's a whole road of new experiences, right?

Congrats!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
