The scale hasn't moved...

Recommended Posts

I am 15 days out of surgery, my first week I lost 14lbs, then when my second week started, the scale stopped moving. So far the scale hasn't moved for 6 days, I was 200 when I went in for surgery so I know 14 in a week to lose is a lot, but I'm getting frustrated and just want to know has anyone else gone threw this? If so, what helped get the scale moving again? Thanks in advance!

Everyone stalls, it is very normal, no need to worry about it :). I'm 5 months out and have stalled numerous times and still have lost 60% of my excess weight. If you find yourself fixating on the number too much try weighing yourself less.

Definitely don't let yourself get frustrated, (easier said than done, right)

The thing that seems to work best is working the plan that your surgeon gave you:

- drink your Water

- get your required Protein

- don't drink 30 minutes before or after you eat

- stick to the diet plan

- exercise as soon as you can

If you do these things the weight will continue to come off without any problem. You will go through stalls every once in a while while your body tries to figure out what you are up to but it will figure itself out if you work the plan.

Good luck, you are doing terrific!

Your small to begin with so it will go slower. How many calories are you taking in? Keep it to 600 or less and it's only a matter of time. You may need to add weight training into your routine to keep your metabolism up. If you have yo yo dieted a lot or if you are a revision, I'm guessing your metabolism is so great. Working out with weights is the key to metabolism. Every pound of muscle burns an additional 100 calories per day.

I'm barely getting in 350 calories a day so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Tonight I finally jumped on the treadmill and just walked for 30 minutes, I also tried to get more of my Protein Shakes in. I have always had major fluctuation in my weight so you are most likely correct. Thank you for the input. Working out with weights is something I need to get back into.

I am in the same boat as you are. I am two months out from my surgery and I have lost 67 lbs. This number is great but I think I am in a plateau right now. I wish the weight would come off faster but I know in time it will. Keep thinking positive thoughts and the weight will come off. Just think Protein, Protein, protein!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
