There has been no scam committed by me.

Safe Surgery requires testing to be done before surgery, Both to determine safety of surgery, and sometimes, to test the appropriateness of surgery. This testing is not done in my organization and is covered by insurance.

No physician or healthcare provider is responsible for the Deductable or Co-insurance amount that is not paid by the Insurance Company.

Good luck with your decision, any I wish you health.

Hello Everyone, I am so disappointed to hear all the negative feedback about Dr Feiz. I have had consultations with 3 doctors and thought I'd finally found the one in Dr. Feiz. What do you mean when you say scam? I think that was brought up several times. That is more than concerning! I hate poor organization and follow through. Those who have commented on the staff are correct. Some really don't know what's going on. Anyone had a good experience with insurance and Dr. Feiz? Please help!!:)

I was banded by Dr. Feiz on 2/11/2010. He and his staff are wonderful! I was worried too about all of the bad things you hear about scams and such...the best advice I can give you is to ask your surgeon. The office is a very busy place and we all want that extra special attention, I know I do...so sometimes it may seem that they are unorganized BUT they get it done! I'm glad I went with Dr. Feiz and I'm sure you will be too.

I think Dr Feiz is a great surgeon. I feel that he's very accommodating and caring. However, there's mixed feelings with Beverly Hills Physicians on here due to their money hungry approach and results they turn out. If all else fails, use Dr.Feiz's private business and you'll most likely be happier. Just my 2 cents with my experience with my insurance.

Just to clarify...I went through his personal Beverly Hills office and not Beverly Hills Physicians.

Hi Monroe :-) Welcome to Lapbandtalk!

I just got a notification because I subscribed to this threat and even though I frequent lapbandtalk I have never realized that someone accused Dr. Feiz of being a scam.

I cannot believe that someone would come on here and accuse Dr. Feiz of something like this. This is the rudest thing I have ever read and I am really taken aback by such comments.

At the same time it makes me wonder why this person posted only once on lapbandtalk? If she was really scammed (which I highly doubt) then she would be posting her entire experience, wouldn't she?. I highly doubt the person's authenticity. After all, this is a public message board and anyone can post anything without any kind of verification.

You have to ask yourself, what is a scam? A scam would be someone that tells patients that a lapband was put in, charges the patient for it when in fact no lapband was put in. This would be a scam.

And this is sooo not the case... because I am one of his patients and I do have a lapband! :-)

Monroe, which office are you dealing with? I am dealing with his Beverly Hills office and the girls there are great. I really love them. They are very organized, very friendly and they never dropped the ball.

My insurance (Anthem Blue Cross) approved surgery within a couple of days. They covered 100% of the hospital charges (in-network) and 70% of Dr. Feiz fees (out of network). I have not been billed a dime more than what my insurance plan specified and only paid the remaining 30% My insurance paid 100% of all the pre-check-ups such as upper endoscopy, blood tests, x-rays, physical, etc.

Go with your intuition, I find Dr. Feiz to be great and his after care is top notch. Even if something goes wrong (most likely not) but in my case it happened because I had an infection... I can attest that he will be there and makes you his number 1 priority and helps you through any difficulties you may occur.

Best of luck to you and hopefully you will get some more answers from other patients... because I can really understand that you are worried (been there, done that) and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

So, Dr. Feiz is a great doctor... but my TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES WITH BEVERLY HILLS PHYSICIANS CONTINUES. I'll post all about their shady business in a different thread since it's not entirely related to Dr. Feiz - just avoid using Beverly Hills Physicians by all means possible!

Tomorrow I have my surgery with Dr. Feiz. I am sooooooo excited. It was a delay for insurance approval (completely normal as I understand it) but I got it finally and am now waiting to hear from the doctors staff about last minute details for tomorrow. like when to get to the hospital and anything else important. I did find his website really helpful when it came to his requirements on a preop diet and with the help of this site I haven't found any need to call the office for anything. I have heard really great things about the Dr. Feiz and the techniques that he has created to reduce scarring and easy fills. I heard he even trains other surgeons on these techniques. I have been to the Huntington Beach office and saw the amount of patients he had just in the couple of hours I had been there and know that he has MANY other offices he works out of. I am surprised to see him on this site even...obviously concerned. When I meet him he seems liked a really easy going man really to the point and I can't wait for great results. I am sooooooooo excited. YAY

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
