BG, good job on the weights. I really think they are important. Your muscles are what makes you get through the day. I think way too many people concentrate on cardio and forget the strength training!!! WAY TOO GO!!! You are doing so awesome!!! You have a ton of work related stress which I think I would be gaining from, but NO NOT you!! YOu rock girlie!!!

Hey J, can't wait to see some pictures of your vacay!!!

JC, ok, so what time tomorrow can we expect an update from the doctor? I am on pins and needles here waiting!!!! LOL, I sound like such a dork...

HP....where are you?????????????????????????????????????????

D, way to go!!!! Half way there!!!

It will probably be around 9:00 pm eastern time before I can get to a computer to send an update.

Unless they admit me tomorrow for further surgery, I will have my sister smuggle my laptop into the hospital. I will get an internet connection from there if I have to shell out through someones cell phone.

Oh god, JC, if you have to go into surgery PLEASE PLEASE have someone let us know!!! Just know that we are all pulling for you and are hoping for the best for you!!!!! What time are you going in for your appt? You will do fine, just know that we are all here for you, no matter what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will probably be out running your heart out on Saturday morning, trying to make up for the lost days!!!! You are such an inspiration to all of you!!! You really rock!!!

Thanks for all the congrats on the half way mark. That is half way to 170. That is what I told the doctor I wanted to be at, but I have been thinking that I really might want to be 150. I will see when I get to 170. I told my DH that if he thinks that I look good enough at 170 then to tell me to stop and I would. I am seriously doubting whether I will believe him enough to stop, but I am really getting fit, so by then, I might look as good at 170 as I did when I was 150. I was young young when I weighed that last, like after I had my son. I was 17 when I had him, so probably at 18....more than half my life ago. WOW, I can't even believe that I weight 237.5 right now!!!!! The lowest I ever got when I was doing WW in 2002 was 244. It took me 6 months to lose 29 pounds then!!!

Ok, I am rambling on with my thoughts here, so I am going to go to bed. I had a mini bag of popcorn tonight. I sure am getting brave with my food choices. I think I need another fill before school starts and the late nights studying come!!! When school starts I won't be on as much, that will be a bummer, but it takes all I got to pull my 3.9!!! Ok, folks, talk to you tomorrow!!

D I don't even know what I am going to look like when I am 150. If I can even get there. I have been big my whole life. My lowest adult weight was 189 and that was after I lost weight the summer before college. I was 150 in like 7th grade and probably 225 when I graduated high school. I am just nervous and scared that I no matter how much work I do that I will never be smaller. I mean I guess somewhere in me I know I can lose the weight but it is just incredibly hard to believe that it could happen.

JC I will be thinking of you today, I pray everything goes well.

Good Luck JC.....I am hoping for some good news on your end...

We are having car issues, and we are planning to ride this weekend. I need it bad. We are joining a local gym when I get paid next friday, so on days I cant get out, can go there.

it is a family pass too.

This week has not been good. No weight loss, no exercise, bad mood, low money, and kids going back too school...so stress levels are at a ultimate high!

Sorry guys...didnt mean to let you all down....even more myself.....

Kicking myself in the ass and getting moving...Promise!

WTG BG!!!!!!!!!!! You are MORE than half way there. Nice weight loss!!!!!

JC, good thoughts and vibes going your way!!

HP, life can be sooo stressful sometimes and those are the times when we need to do for ourselves the most!!! Exercise takes that stress and pushes it out of our pours!!! Maybe you could get some videos to workout to in the home when you have the days you can't ride. At least something to get you moving!!! What about a trainer for your bike? You could hook your bike up to it and workout in your house. That is what I am going to do this winter when I can't ride outside. We get snow here, so no riding for several months. Just a thought! Good job on the gym!! That will be great as you can go as a family and workout together!!! Good luck!

J, hope you made it home safe and sound! Am looking forward to a report of vacation!

I am off to do my strength training, so will be back later.

JC, just wanted to get one more positive thought in for you!!! Good luck, guy!!!

Hi everyone.

I'm home safe and sound now.

I need to run to the grocery to get some growing food in the house and into my body! That's what we call not junk food.

I'll be running from there to get my daughter, who I miss so much!!!!!!!!!

I'll catch up with everyone individually shortly.

D

I am planning on getting an indoor trainer for the house for the winter. Actually that is going to be my christmas present to me!

My 16 year old(almost 17:(_ is wanting to go with me to the gym, so that is why I went for the family membership. I know everyone says to do the exercise even when we are stressed, and I really wanted to, but with the heat as bad as it has been, i am drained at the end of the day. I think my thryoid is acting up or something...I have never been like this in a long time. I had my levels checked about 2 months ago...so i am keeping an eye on my moods and level of exhasution.

It has gotten about time to hit the road tonight, and I cant wait. Already have a new route planned.

Well, JC....I am hoping for a good update.....

J...hope you made it back ok.....

BG...WOHOOOOOO...good job...keep up the good work

Thanks for the inspiration! Lastnight I hopped on my bike and went for about 30 minutes. It wore me out! I like the challenge though and know it will get easier as I keep doing it. The scale even rewarded me this morning after holding out on me for some time!

Good job Ragdoll, that is awesome!!!! The scale moving is such a NICE way to wake up in the morning.

HP, maybe you should go have it checked out again??? I know I had a parathyroidectomy a few years back and it affected how I felt. I was sleeping a good 18 hours out of the day. And I mean SLEEPING!! The parathyroid affects your Calcium levels in your body. They are right by the thyroid but have nothing to do with it. The one they took out of my neck was the size of a walnut. The pathologist said it was the biggest he had ever seen. I am a bitch by nature, so watching my moods is like watching Godzilla turn into Dracula!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
