Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Recommended Posts

I bought a new bike last month and I love it. It's not like the bikes I remembered having as a kid. I actually thought I broke it when I sat down on it. I had no idea that it had a suspension system!!!! Since I've owned I've been out about 4x. I do other things like Pilates, Bellydance, Yoga and Weight Bands for exercise, but haven't worked up to exercising more than twice a week.

You sound like you're doing way better!!!

D! I'm TOTALLY feeling your Acid Reflux pain. OUCH!

So... Ya'll know I got my fill about 5 weeks ago. I've been fighting heartburn/reflux (same thing really) for about the last 3 weeks. I took 3 days worth of Omeprazole 20mg and was good to go, felt perfect. Then a few days went by and the acid flaired up again. I have been taking an omeprazole 2x week since then. Well... so Tuesday afternoon the reflux started acting up while I was at work I was going to take abnother pill that night, and I did... but yesterday (wednesday) it was worse, so I took another pill last night. And I woke up at 5am today in such pain!! I was laying in bed and could feel the acid bubbling up my esophogus like lava in a volcano. I just got out of bed, I couldn't take it anymore! I went to work and suffered all day. It basically feels like there is a golfball in my throat. It's painful to swallow around it too. Sometimes it feels like my heart is going to beat out of my throat. Sometimes it feels like the golfball is going to jump out of my mouth.

As far as I can tell my band is FINE. What I have eaten/drank today goes down through the band without any problems. I've eaten all of about 5 almonds, 1 teeeeny bite of cheesecake... and I've sipped on Protein Shake all day, though I've probably only gotten in about 20oz. I'm trying to sip on a glass of light apple juice now. But wowza... golfball doesn't like it. I keep getting the hiccup-burps which don't help.

I'm going in to the NP on MODAY at 1130 to get a MINOR unfill. I'm aiming for no more than 0.5cc out. Over the phone the NP agreed with that... she really wanted to take out 1cc.

Wahhhhhh! I know i"m just whining here... so sorry.

Did I mention that Monday is my birthday? I totally don't want to get an unfill for my birthday. Lol.

Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary from my initial consultation for the band. I can't believe it's been a year since I got this ball rolling. Yay!

J - Have a blast tomorrow! Can't wait to hear how it goes...and see pics, too! (Of course, I still need to upload mine...I'm so behind this week!)

Okay, folks! My scale actually had me way up on the weight this week. (WAY UP) However, according to last month's visit versus this Tuesday's visit at the doctor's office, I was only up four pounds. So I guess that's not too bad. I started a new supplement regimen that was recommended by my doc (he's REAL into sports and has a LOT of athletes come to him). The combination of things he has me taking, along with the timing of them with meals, workouts and rest, is supposed to encourage the body to naturally release stored fat for burning.

Now, either my scale is completely screwy, or I am dropping weight faster than I ever have before...even faster than my first month after banding. I'm going to monitor it very closely over the next week to see if the last two days pace continues. It's too fast. The problem is that I LOVE IT, of course! We'll see...

ZZ, I sure hope that you start feeling better. It is now Friday, I had all of my fill removed on Tuesday and I am just starting to feel better. My sore throat has gone away, but my lungs are still full of crap from aspirating it.

It's official I'm on SPRING BREAK!!!

I've just submitted my last two papers for my marketing class. I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18 weeks and no breaks makes for a grouchy Juli.

I'm 14.5 months from being done with school. Yes, I'm counting the days!!!

And then I get to ride tomorrow............YEEEEEEEEEhawwwwwww

I'm finding typing limiting to my expressiveness. I've been dancing around work with my butt out and grinning....

Enough about me,

I hope you girls, three of you- TX, D and ZZ and the fella, B, get your banding stuff to a place that makes you feel better/fantastic. Looks like you all have plans and are on the up swing...ZZ be careful. I don't know how late you eat, but when I'm super tight there's no eating after 6pm so I can sleep on an empty stomach. Otherwise I get that acidic burning too.

 :0)

OMG I am having some serious internet/computer problems! Our main PC has a 'trojan'...it's so bad it has little 'bugs' crawling all over the screen. DH is pissed and it's making problems for the wireless computers in the house. It's ugly. We've been working on it for two days.

J- GOOD LUCK!!! I hope you have a wonderful time! We'll miss you at the meeting!

TX- I'm glad to hear you are on the losing end. Send me the list of supplements! I'm stalled for over a week and have even gained back 1.5 pounds which I refuse to reflect in my ticker!! LOL

I thought I would post it here in case anyone else is interested. I will warn you, though...this is a crapload of pills! Even though you all already know that I am nuts, this just confirms it! LOL I put the store/brand I purchased if you want to repeat the same.

MORNING:

GNC's Women's Ulta Mega Active Vitapak (Contains 2 Women's Ulta Mega Active without Iron, 2 Energy Enhancer, 1 Calcium 600 mg, 1 L-Carnitine 500 mg, 1 CLA 1000 mg)

2 GNC Fish Oil 1000 mg

2 GNC CLA 1000 mg

1 Vitamin Shoppe ForsLean (Coleus Forskohlii 125 mg, or Forskolin)

2 Vitamin Shoppe L-Argenine 500 mg

2 Vitamin Shoppe L-Carnitine 500 mg (CarniPure)

1 scoop in any drink Vitamin Shoppe L-Glutamine powder 4500 mg

Take them with at least a little something to eat, or you will be burping Fish Oil, which I found is NOT PLEASANT. Most of these are amino acids or herbs.

I did it, I did it!!!!!!!!!!!?attid=0.1.0.1&disp=emb&view=att&th=119d7de3c1cb72df

This is a mural at the end of the ride. That's me in all my chubby glory, and my pal Joanna on the other side of the painted cyclist.

My odometer said 110 miles by the time we got done...It was an amazing ride. I made it up all the hills on my pedals too. No walking.

I'll do it again, I'm sure.

WOOT WOOT

Michigan cyclist killed during Ohio bike tour

UPDATE: 7:46 PM, Sunday, May 11, 2008

COLUMBUS The State Highway Patrol says a bicyclist taking part in the annual Tour of the Scioto Valley was killed on Route 23 when he was struck from behind by a motorist and thrown from his bicycle.

Cyclists in the two-day tour, which takes place each year on Mother's Day weekend, pedal the 105 miles from Columbus to Portsmouth the first day, and return to Columbus on the second day.

Fifty-seven-year-old William Crowley of Northville, Mich., was riding his bicycle north in the right lane when he was hit near Piketon at about 7:50 a.m. today. Troopers say he died at the scene.

The patrol says the driver of the car was 35-year-old Sara Bender of Lucasville. She was not injured.

Piketon is about 60 miles south of Columbus.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
