here are some thoughts I have on the band

I think it is a combination. I know that prior to my band, I would of eaten a entire Bucket of chicken, now I dont.

Before the band I would of eaten a entire pizza by myself..NOW I dont

Before the band I would of eaten 7 dollars worth of chicken drummies from the work cafe, and now I dont

Before the band I would of consumed a case of soda's a week, stopped on every road trip and bought a 32 oz fountain drink, now I dont.

I know that before my band I was not exercising at all.

Now, I do.....Now I

walk more

ride my new bike as much as I can

complete new goals that I set for myself

drink allot of Water

try new foods

bring a heathier outlook to my house and for my children

have become more active with my husband outside activities and indoors

Am happier

Am more confident

Love buying new clothes

Love looking Sexy

Love the way my body feels after I work out

Love the reaction of people who have not seen me...

AND I GUESS YOU CAN SAY

I LOVE MY BAND

Great observations, HP! I love the attitude!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, I know you northerners just LOVE us Texans for this...
BUT I CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS 79 DEGREES TODAY! WTF?!?!?
Needless to say, I went riding today and got in a wonderful 38 miles! In bike shorts and a short sleeve jersey, no less! In JANUARY! This is odd, even for us...don't you think, B?
Can anyone recommend a bike to ride? You see my butt is huge. LOL And I cannot seem to find the rite bike. Has anyone else experienced this? Or am I just a big baby? I tried one of my kids bikes and it hurt. It felt like the bike seat was going into my butt. Please help. And have a blessed day Stacey:):help:
TX - Yep, this weather is weird even for us. Did not get out on the road today. As penance, I will have to ride a little longer on the trainer than I would have on the road. Tomorrow, though, I will be out for a road ride with a goal of at least 5 miles further than I have been riding (less hilly route - 2 stop signs for each 6 mile loop.
LC - There are some previous posts about selecting a bike, but in brief... I assume by your doc that you are in Houston area? if so, go to a bike store like Planetary Cycles (Planetary Cycles, Houston TX), or someplace like it. Stay away from big box retailers (walmart, costco, etc.) and from general purpose outdoor stores (REI and the like). You need to get someone who can fit the bike properly. As for seats, a properly fitted bike with the proper seat should help reduce the pain. Just remember, a bigger wedge-shaped seat isn't necessarily better - it may just spread the pain around. Wearing the proper bike clothing is also critical - there's a reason that bicyclists wear the spandex pants with the big pad inside - it does keep the seat from going places not meant for seats to go :eek:. It is my job to also recommend that you consider a recumbent - depending on your riding goals it may/may not be appropriate, but at least the seat won't likely be an issue... When you go to the bike stores, ride as many bikes as you can - one will just "fit" better, and it should at least whisper "ride me" to you. Good luck, and let us know if there are any other questions we can answer.
OH I CANT BELIEVE YOU GUYS IN TEXAS......
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO....I AM HOPING IT WONT RAIN TOMMOROW...
SO....i can ride!!!!!!!!!
MY HOUSEHOLD IS GOING ON A CHALLENGE
We were talking on our drive today, it is our anniv. tommorow and we went and did our eating out etc....
we were talking about how much my DH weighed and we came up with a cool challenge
He weighs 220....so, we are going to get him to loose 20 lbs....and whoever looses first is getting a prize..not sure what yet, but I am so excited...
See my husband still wont give up soft drinks and does not plan too.
He says I have an unfair advantage over him because of the band, so we are considering making it 20 for me and 10 for him...??? Not sure yet on that...
I am also doing a challenge with the kids. It will be more of an independant goal for each of them, since they are all different and all....but i think it will be awesome...
i cant even imagine getting another 20 off...wow....
Anyway..just wanted to share
and lctexas
i started out with a Trek Hybrid bike....it was an excellent start and I was able to ride up to 45 miles by the end of the season. (started at 3-5 miles a time in May)
I struggled with seats too......they still hurt my butt......but....I have a gel seat now, and wear padded bike shorts...I dont like to ride without them at all.....
Your lbs would be the best place to go just like b said.....they are usually always helpful.....
Good luck...and Have un......
I'm with BG on this one you dang Texans with your perfect weather I had to suffer through a FREEZING 73 degrees today! God, some people have it too good!
HP, I think a challenge like that is a good motivator, but I wouldn't give him more than a 5 pound lead. Men tend to drop weight faster than Women.
Eh, it was mid-upper 50s here today, and supposed to be beautiful tomorrow too. (KCMO)
I think I'm going to explode. Went to my Grandparents today... Granny fed me - it's what she does - and she doesn't know I"m banded, so it's MY fault. I ate 2/3 of a cheeseburger, 1/4 cup cooked carrots, and 1/4 cup cooked spinach. And 3 Andes candies. OK, so when I say it, it doesn't sound like alot... but in my belly it feels like a huge lump of el-gross-o!
B - I ordered Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Casein Slow-Acting Protein, Aminogen Enhanced. I got the banana Cream and chocolate Supreme. I just put 8 oz. of skim milk in the Magic Bullet with a heaping scoop of the Banana Cream and ten ice cubes. It's pretty darn good! I'm not experiencing any aftertaste, no grittiness, and it is very creamy. The only complaint I would have is that it's a tad sweet, so I will probably throw a tablespoon of natural Peanut Butter in for the future to see if that doesn't cut the sweetness down. I can't wait to try the Chocolate Supreme tomorrow night!
      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
