Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Thanks BG - yep surgery was yesterday, and with the Q pump and the hydrocodone Syrup, i am feeling no pain! Could go out and ride a hundred miles (well, except that my coordination is all messed up). I'm sure that will change in a day or so, when riding 100 feet might be more that i could possibly imagine.

First of all!!!!!!

MY LORD, YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN BUSY TYPERS TODAY!!!!

I will start with saying...welcome to our little group Brandon...we are pretty freakin awesome if I do say so myself...and I ALSO HAVE A TREK BIKE (HYBRID) WOOOHOOOO

I like mine too, and plan to get a road bike next year in the spring, OR when I hit 200 lbs.

D......I am so sorry you had such a crummy ass day and weekend. Men sometimes just dont say the things they need to, and you were proably saying what you thought he was going to say...and it is NOT true....

You are a wonderful inspiration and a good friend to everyone of us on this site, and on other threads.......CHIN UP!!!!!!

Ok, that sound like a doable thing in September..what day again??

We will proably see if we can either camp or stay at a hotel, depending on cash?

I will look into it..and BTW....My husband would be riding with me(well proably way ahead, because he has a road bike)

I can see about my daughter(she is almost 17) how old are the kiddo's???

JC and BG...and J you guys have been a riot on here today.....it took me forever to read all you guys have written, but sure has been a blast doing so....

Welcome aboard Brandon, I need all the help I can get!!!

I am pleased that you are considering the DARK SIDE the recumbents are very comfortable especially if your body profile doesn't resemble a stick.

I have however, been holding back, yes I have a dark dirty little secret that lives in my storage shed and that I have been keeping from everyone! MARIN BIKES | 2003 | Road | San Marino I am so ashamed!

Ok, so on the serious side. I am ok I am fine. I am upbeat. Got it? Good! While walking tonight a large dog bit the shit out of my arm. The dog is resting and trying to recover. I am ok.

HP and JC - thanks for the welcome! It can be a little overwhelming to be the newbie 60+ pages into a thread...

Very nice roadie JC - you were holding out on us... I will stick to my recumbent dreams for now - I am not now, nor ever will be, built like a stick - and while I understand the reason why road/hybrid saddles are the way they are, my ass just doesn't buy into it... I will be getting a better saddle for my Trek when I start riding again - it's an old-fashioned leather saddle from Brooks Brooks B-17 Bicycle Saddle at Wallbike. Hopefully that will hold me over for a while.

HP - I like the idea of a goal weight for a new bike - the recumbents that I'm looking at (RANS Stratus XP) has a weight limit for rider and gear of about 250 pounds. I figure I'll wait until I reach 225 to get it.

Hey B, is that avatar your pet?

Yes, that's my boxer, Grumpy. She's 14 months old, and she said she would kick the ass of the dog that bit you. She's our kid, spoiled so very rotten. She knows something is wrong with me today, and has just been lying there whimpering at me "Daddy, why don't you curl up with me"... Wish she spoke better english...

Yes I will! When I reach a weight that I feel comfortable getting on that thing, it is going to look like I was shot out of a rocket!.

Also, I managed to get in 5 miles tonight even with the dog attack!!

Welcome dude. We are a friendly group and I'm so happy you introduced your self to us. Biking is something I always did a little of when I tried to lose weight, but never before have I invested money or time or my heart into it as I have done now. I really love the sport, and meeting people and what it does for my most shapely calves. (My thighs I'll save for "parts that look like ass" conversation.)

I LOVE my road bike. I think I'm the only one who ACTUALLY rides one (ahem, JC...) out of the 5 of us. The other chicas are saving for thiers and JC is a big whiny baby who scared of hurting his boy bits by sitting on the seat. You might be too...but I don't know you well enough to talk about your bits. JC on the other hand, I'll talk about his all day long.

HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've wanted you to get on all day! You must have been busy. My daughter is turning 6 on Sept. 19th. She starts Kindergarten next Wednesday. They can poke me a million times on Friday for the fill and I'm not nearly as worried about that as I am about my baby going to school. She's been in preschool since she was 18 mos., it's just that Kindergarten is the end of being a baby.

You all just had me take a picture of my dog. I've had her for over 12 years and she's getting up there. She's a Weimarainer. I'll post a pic in a minute.

She has a boo boo on her chest that just won't heal with out some serious surgery and keeping an E collar on her. Because of her age, I'm just letting it be. It doesn't hurt her, I guess. I love my sweetie, sweet dog.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
