I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

My WOW group went out today too. The GF did 32 miles! Everyone is riding but not MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I've spent the morning with my daughter and a neighbor's 9 y/o girl who just bicker constently. Now it's my turn to whineeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I did get in the pool for a good hour and a half, so I'm not a complete slug, but I wanna ride toooooooooooo.

Deanna-

I think you need to take a coffee can and decorate it with $$$ and gas and put in on your boat like a tip jar. Maybe then people would get a hint...Can I come? I'll put $20 bucks toward gas! I love tubing!!!

IS just awesome!!! I find myself checking it so many times....LOL

JC...50 miles...pretty impressive. I bet when you were at your highest weight, you never dreamed you would be doing that? Heck, every day I can't believe I went so long being un-active...how boring??? Juli, I know what you mean, the bike seems to just call out for us.

Deanna...isnt gas just awful?? What does it run where you are at?? We are at $3.09 a gallon again here...wish I could bike too work.

I love to be in the water....I would loved to have jumped in after last nights ride. It is hot and humid here and the Water would of been great.

Well, have a good day

$3.09? Boy am I jealous. We just shot back up to $3.35 for the cheap stuff. I can't wait to get a new car with better mileage. I am going to miss being able to drop my seats and throw the bike in the back though.

I can't wait to be able to do 50 miles.

Juli, I'm such a slacker, I don't think I have the strength to go jogging this afternoon.

Deanna, Water skiing and tubing behind a peddleboat? SWEET!!!

Traci, you are right, but right now I feel spent! Last weekend I rode by myself and felt good enough to go jogging. I feel guilty that I don't think I can jog tonight.

BG, I can't describe the rush I get when I pour 5- 10 gallons of cooking oil in my tank and drive with it. Kinda makes you hungry in heavy traffic though.

Deanna, yea I guess we are lucky. One of our auto's is a Tundra, and well lets just say it gets pretty pricey filling it up..LOL We have a small kia spectra now that we got to replace our camry after my daughters wreck, and it is getting around 38 miles to a gallon...pretty impressive...just not my camry!!!!

Jc....even you need a break......")

Check this out.

It's the end of September. I'm shooting for the 62 by then. If not 50 will do. Maybe you too?

Hoosier what part of Indiana are you in, east, west, north or south?

Oh.......and I love this thread too. You all rock my little LBT world!

Juli I would definitely do the 50 with you. 62 seems a bit too far off for me by then. DO we have to know ahead of time what we are riding or decided the day of?

Hey guys..

I actually picked up the brochure, and it is about 5 hours from my house....which is DOABLE!!!!!!

I would be in for the 50....we can do it in 2 days correct???

I am riding in a 21 mile ride on the 5th of August, and that will tell me for sure what I can do. But if I am going that far, I will be doing the 50!!!!

I think I can build myself up to that by than....

I just love it...

I rode our normal route tonight(our evening route) and did 6 miles in 35 min. Pulled several hills, and only walked half of one, and than I got back on my bike and rode the rest of the way....

I was so excited. I had not wanted to go..it had been SO hot...but it had cooled down, and am SO glad I went...

I am in the central/southern Part of Indiana...about 45 min south of Bloomington. They opened up a new casino about 10 miles from me at a historic older town. Larry Bird is from there, French Lick, In.

I work at a Naval base (Crane) for the Navy as a contractor.

I will keep you posted, but I think I will see if we can work something out for September. O, Wonder if we can camp there???

Thanks everyone....

Juli, Traci, BG, JC!!!!! You are all making me jealous!!!

50 freakin miles???? Holy cow!!!! I can't wait to get a road bike and do that. I don't think a hybrid is really all about doing 50 miles. It IS comfortable, but the seat starts to bother me around 12 miles...and then goes downhill from there.

Juli, you can come tubing anytime and I wouldn't even charge you!!!! But I think you are right about the coffee can. I would love to see the looks on their faces if I pulled that out!!!!!

I have a Pontiac Bonneville and it uses the premium gas so I am paying about $3.32 or so, depending on the day it seems, for my car. It gets around 30mpg on the freeway, in town about 19-22. The truck however is not the best on gas!!! Oh, and we did ended up just going swimming at the lake because we went to leave and the tranny was leaking....oh well, but we had already bought the gas for the boat.....arrrrgggg!!!!!!

Now on to the bad news. I think I pulled something in my shoulder this morning while riding. It is hurts sooooo bad and then down into my side like around my ribs. God, I guess I have felt like I was invinsible since I was weight training and biking so I thought I could not get hurt, so this shows me that I can and probably WILL get hurt still at times. Now, I am just up and putting heating pad on it in the middle of the night trying to get some relief. It hurts really bad to lay on my back!!! Okay biker buddies, I am going to try to get some rest, I don't think I can handle NOT riding tomorrow, but I guess we will see if the pain is gone. This must be how you felt Juli!!!!!

Deanna, sorry to hear about your shoulder. I have started taking glucosamine chondroitin chewables to assist in joint health as I pound the hell out of my body. I have been reading however, that a glucosamine only supplement is better.

Deanna, you poor thing! I'm so sorry you're hurting. Our bodies will tell us when it's time to slow down. Maybe yours is telling you to rest a day or two.

BG and Hoosier-You all can camp...my ass is going to be sleeping in a bed in a hotel. We'll meet you at Breakfast time in the firehouse. You decide in the morning how far you'll ride. So don't fret. But you do need to register before hand.

Swaaaaweet.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
