From what I can tell the pre-op liquid diet makes you go through detox getting all the sugar and junk out of your system. So basically we go through sugar/carbs withdrawal the first few days.

I've been trying to cut out sweets, breads and pastries this past week. And coffee too is down to one cup every other day or two because boy coffee headaches can be awful. But like everyone says, by about the third to fifth day you're through the rough patch and then it's pretty good. I'm counting on that being true.

I start next Monday and trying help myself now if I can to avoid too much awfulness.

Just wanted to wish you good luck with surgery tomorrow

Well, it's Sunday night and I am starting the last couple of days before my surgery. I am still completely excited. I haven't heard from my surgeon about my blood work being off, so I am going to have to call them on Monday and ask them if my hemoglobin was okay. Otherwise, at 7:45am on Thursday morning I will be in surgery. Wow! How time flies. I have lost over 16 pounds since they weighed to make sure I was at my goal weight for my surgery, which was just a couple of weeks ago. I have gotten use to eating very little and most of the time I am not even hungry. I have to make myself eat and drink. It is not because I am busy, because I have plenty of time, it is just because I don't feel like I need anything. Before, when I ate whenever and whatever I wanted there was always something in my mouth. Now, there is very rarely something in my mouth. How strange. But, one thing I really like, I have tons of energy. I have been zipping around my house and my mom's house, cleaning and cooking. Those are things I would never have been able to do before. Only problem is some of the people I told that I am having surgery recently told me why don't I do it the way I am doing it right now. Well, I don't think you are suppose to stay on a less than 1000 calorie diet for more than a very limited amount of time. Maybe I am wrong. And I want to get to the point where I can eat again, even if it is small amounts.

Hey Everyone,

I'm totally getting excited!!! I've never felt excited yet, just always nervous. Something has shifted. I'm a pretty active person so my s/o is like, "you need a reason to just sit around for a few weeks!" lol

My date is this Thursday. I strayed a little from the pre-op diet this weekend, but nothing too crazy. One thing I know is that I'm not going to freak out about that. Lessons learned. Moving forward. I'm committing to not beating myself up over food anymore. Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt!

I'm excited to have this tool in place. I met with my surgeon on Friday and I feel good. Her complication rate is well below the national averages which are already low. Her patients typically do well and are compliant. I'm excited to join the ranks. She asked if anything has changed in my health status since we last met I said no. Then I asked HER if anything as changed with her practice or patients' status since we last met!!! LOLL...

I got my stations all set up last night. I've got my food area in the kitchen stocked with Water enhancements, Jello, Soups, puddings, milk powder in the pantry and fridge. Upstairs in the bathroom cabinet I've got my Vitamins, meds and scale. Getting some gauze from work today. Then I got my bag for the hospital almost ready to go with my gas X strips, car pillow, roomy jammies, my belly binder and chapstick. I've been collecting for about a month now. This site has been helpful in getting me organized.

I can't believe I'm doing this!!!!!!! :)

How's everyone doing?

@@MisforMimi, I'm so excited for you! It looks like you've got everything in order and just the right attitude. I also strayed on my pre-op diet and guess what? The sky didn't fall! Time to move on. :)

@@thin-for-kidney, the countdown goes really fast at the end. 1/28 will be here before you know it! I don't know what hemo dialysis entails, but I do know it brings you one step closer to surgery and turning that amazing corner into a new life. Cheers!

Less than 3 hours before I have to get ready for my ride to my hospital. I am still super excited, but am starting to get a bit nervous. No one is going to be able to stay with me due to things falling all out of order, but I am okay with that. I can always call them when I am feeling up to it. And I am going to be going home tomorrow anyways. I can't wait to start my new life!! I hope the gas pain isn't as bad as people keep saying. I have had surgery on my stomach that was laprascopic before and didn't have problems with pain, so I am hoping this will be the same. I need to try to get some sleep, but just can't even though I am a little tired. Have been up for almost 24 hours. lol Oh well, will sleep during surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
