I am 2.5 weeks post op and I have been experiencing a lot of sadness, sometimes it come from nowhere and I feel a little immobilized. My Dr said it is completely normal, and I know there is a lot of loss that goes along with this surgery. Just wondering if other people are experiencing this and if it gets better quickly.

I haven't had my surgery yet. Just keeping thinking how great you are going to look this time next year. I know it will be rough for you with the holidays but you will be a lot healthier.

I am about 9wks post op and I did feel depression after surgery. Especially the second wk. It got better a little at a time. Going back to work helped me tons. It's alot to go through physical, but also mentally and emotionally. Hang in there it will get better. =)

Oh yes. I definitely went through that. I was terribly sad and emotional in the first few weeks after surgery. I think a lot of it came from honestly mourning the loss of food. I have always struggled with using food as a coping mechanism for a lot of things (stress, anger, hurt, happiness...pretty much every emotion...lol). So to lose that all at once meant I was feeling a lot of things that I usually would just numb with food. That's something I'm still working through, but definitely right after surgery it was intense. Hang in there!!!

I felt very sad right around 3 weeks or so after surgery. But I can tell you that it didn't last long at all. Once the weight started coming off really fast and people noticed, it was like a high and I forgot all about being sad! I think I was mourning the loss of my favorite bad foods and the "rituals" I had for eating. Such as a huge Breakfast before work every morning, snacking in the afternoon at work, snacking on the ride home from work and them of course eating a huge dinner full of carbs. I spent a lot of time getting food and hiding food and eating in private. That time is now all freed up and I felt lost at first, like what do I do now? There is definitely a mourning and adjustment period, but for me, it didn't last very long and I've never looked back. I am extremely happy with my results so far (surgery 6 1/2 months ago - down a total of 122 pounds from a HW of 328). Your sadness will go away soon, I'm sure of it!

I felt really sas ans emotional for the first 2 weeks I was regretting my decision but apparently when you are losing weight quick you release hormones which make you feel emotional ... I also kept waking up at 5 am every night was freaky but it went away :) I am 5 weeks post op

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
