not able to keep anything down the last few days...

Recommended Posts

Monday I will be six weeks out. I have had a hard time keeping anything down, so I've been trying to do what I normally do while I eat, but I find that instantly Im going to the bathroom to get sick. Today I've drank mostly Water, tried to have some Protein, and that came right up. Other than this, I have been feeling amazing. I just dont want to get dehydrated.

I went through the same thing at that stage and continued to have episodes for the first 3-4 months. Just keep trying different foods. If you're like me, your tastes will continue to change. For me it was texture; I couldn't keep meat down until month 5. I still can't stand the texture of eggs since the surgery. Protein drinks made me sick as well; I tried nine different kinds. One week refried Beans were all I could handle, another it was ricotta cheese. 12 months later, I can't stand the taste of the only things I could eat at the time like cottage cheese. My doctor said it wasn't a blockage, etc, because I was able to drink Water with no problem. Check with your doctor to make sure. For some of us, it takes our bodies longer to heal and adjust. The important thing is keep trying new things and remember it WILL get better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
