I'm 16 days out and have never had any pain since surgery. At this point I don't even feel like I had surgery anymore, so I sleep in any position and never notice. Are you still having pain or sensitivity?

I'm 17 days out, and for the last week or so, I've been on my side or of my tummy most of the night. No problems.

Right at first, I'd lay on my back, and sometimes on my side, but I'd use a pillow to support my belly when I was on my side.

It took less than a week for me to start sleeping on my side. It was limited and phased in.

I was sleeping on an incline until last night. Last night I slept flat on my back or tipped a bit to the right, but with a blanket balled up to support my tummy.

I had a pulled internal stitch so my main incision was pretty painful. I took liquid Hydrocodone at bedtime the first two weeks and sort of propped myself up with pillows. At three weeks I could sort of lay on my side by leaning on a pillow. At four weeks I could sleep any way I wanted.

Hope that last bit of soreness goes away soon so you can rock your sleep any which way you want. I've always slept with a body hug pillow and think it probably helped quite a bit with keeping me comfortable the first few days after surgery. Best of luck to you!

This so sounds more like a pregnancy post than a WLS post ???????? I guess it's good to know that it should but another body pillow to sleep in my side though ????

10 days post op and last night was the first night I slept on my side, and even a little bit on my stomach. I am a lifetime tummy sleeper but was unable to sleep on any other position then on my back unitl last night, even with a pillow under my tummy all my attempts resulted in a tugging sensation on my stomach and pain, but last night I didnt sleep on my back at all and just woke up with the slightest feeling of soreness (very tolerable and a minimal sacrifice to sleeping well).

My recovery was slow and painful :( sleeping on my side helped me with the gas and pain. A month after my surgey and i was still in pain :( i believe the only thing that helped was able to sleep in that position. Good luck.

I slept on my side right out of recovery and while still in the hospital. I've slept all ways on my side and even on my tummy. Each person is different. I would say give it a try and if your comfy snooze away to dreamland :). Although we are all different and all the Docs have different instructions one common ground they all seem to share is listen to your new body. Learn your new sleeve. Wishing you pleasant dreams!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
