Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I'm back ladies. Not much to report. It was a decent day all around. The kids were good for the most part. Compared to some horror school stories I hear I would have to say a GREAT day. Not my kids though....

I did get an email from one of my kids yesterday that said they miss me. It was nice to hear. I reminded him that he hated me last year and he wished for a new teacher. That he should be careful what he wishes for.

I have to figure out what I'm going to do food wise when I'm subbing. I had a prot. for Breakfast and took two Fiber one bars because I thought one for lunch and one for snack. When lunch came along I was so hungry I ate both of them. Now I've had less than 400 cals and it's 5pm. I've got to get a better plan figured out.

Phyl, I know what you mean about the papaya. I took them all out of the house because I was starting to make excuses to eat them to get the sweet fix.

Ruby, glad you're feeling better today. It's nice when things finally come together.

Candice, sounds like a great plan. It always pays to find something to be accountable to. Way to go.

alright. I'm off to get dinner for the family. I'll talk to you all later.

Woooohooooo! Look at you! Buying up all the jeans in the store and showing off in them.

I had an okay day. My total calories so far today (there are still 3.5 hours where to go) are 1537  but if I subtract my exercise it takes it down to 934. It's telling me I can eat another 233 cals. I wish I didn't know that. It could send me over the edge. Especially if I've forgotten to add something. :smile2:

My Protein percentage is 14.54, carbs are 46.24 and fat is 39.22. I haven't figured out yet what they're supposed to be, but that doesn't look good. I probably should have more protein and less of the carbs and fat. *sigh* More thinking and recalculating needed. Being fat was never this much hard work! :tt2: I drank all my Water.< /p>

Dionna, please join us in our little family group. We'd really love you to stay. Like Steph said, trying to find solutions for other people helps us find them for ourselves. Not everything we suggest will work for you, but it may work for someone else who happens to read it. And believe it or not, you'll probably have suggestions for us that will work. Even though we're a year out, sometimes we (by 'we' I mean ME :bored: ) forget the basics that were taught in the beginning. You can helps us remember. :smile2:

Ruby: You go gilr, counting your carbs, cals, protein grams etc.. We gotta help each other here!!! Right?

My nutritionist suggests that I eat PROTIEN at every meal, and get at least 60 g in a day minimum...

I don't know what others feel like on this, but I am also limiting my carbs right now to Veggies only and small amount of fruit. I know there are also carbs in Skim Milk but I count that for my calcuim sources so I won't cut down on that...:tt2: don't want brittle bones in my old age eh?:tt2:

So lets keep accountable together here online, is that o.k. with you???

Candice:cool2:

Hello again Lucky Sevens. I need some advice... I've attended 2 support group meetings being hosted at my doctor's office. They meet a couple of times a month but I do not find the people in the group very inspiring.. in fact I find them to be the opposite of inspiring and more a cautionary tale. What galls me is that they then turn and offer me advice in a condescending manner... I'm thinking I should just stop going to this support group. What do you think?

And welcome to the Lucky 7s thread. You already know the answer to the question above. If these folks are NOT inspiring you then Dump-um... This is the most important journey of your life, and you need to surround yourself with [[positive]] encouragement from others who are meeting the same challenges.

None of here are perfect bandsters, or know everything in the whole world, but I DO promise you that we will answer your questions, give you our honest opinion and give you a shoulder to cry on too.

Thru this past year, I have come to feel closer to these gals than most of my "real" friends. As much as my family and friends love me, they cannot KNOW how being banded in life feels. They just don't get it.

Now they are all very pleased to see that I am losing weight and becoming healthier, but they are outsiders.

Best of luck to you and send along a picture so we can see what you look like :tt2:

You are too funny Janet; I DO MEAN you are my friend!!! :smile2: I was just thnking about you last night when I was watching Sarah Palin talking... I was remembering our debate over the elections with Rose/Stephanie You and Me that night by the Sprinklers. Gee that was fun!!!

And I really feel that this election has now pulled out the claws, especially after last nights broadcast. I had been hopefull that both gentlemen were going to keep this race on an elevated keel... guess not?:tt2:

My DH and I got into a "heated debate" last night too. He can't figure out for the life of him why I am so interested in American Politics. dah!!!

I watch Canadian Politics with furver too... I just like to know whats going on in the world and who/what will be shaping our future(s)

To think that what happens in the US will not affect us here in Canada (and the rest of the world for that matter) is just like keeping your head stuck in the sand.

It's a small, small world and we're all in this together:blink:

I think your picture turned out a little better than mine. My camera had started acting up and by the time I got home I decided I needed a new one. Sure was a fun weekend!

Yeah, I love looking at all those pictures. All my train trip pictures play on my laptop as screen saver when I"m not using it and I really enjoy watching them!

I know you know we are friend - just pulling your chain :tt2:

Yes I loved that discussion that nite - I wish we had more of those night and that Linda & Phyl were there.

I asked a girl at work if it was just me or were the speeches last night just a little nasty - mean spirted - I agree 100% I hate the bashing and I don't care which side is doing it - It's what makes me tune out..

It will be interesting to hear McCain's speech tonite

Ya I would think that American Politic's would be interesting to other countries since we are big brother and especially since we are neighbors.

We don't get much on what goes on in Canada - I use to know who your prime minister was at one time - Truedua (sp) but I don't know who it is now - He must have been very popluar or very much disliked but that's the name that comes to my head - I don't even know what year he was the pm..:smile2:

Tell DH you have alot of American friends and you worry about us

7_18_2.gif NSV - youngest daughter came to me this morning and handed me a shirt that her sister had given her and told me to try it. Size L from Kohls. It fit! ! ! ! Now I can raid DD's closet. Although, being 58 and wearing a 23 year olds clothes may look strange. Tough ! ! Of course, she likes to wear her clothes on the tight side so those are out.

Candice:cool2:

It's a deal chickie! :smile2: I must say that having to pay attention to my food intake has helped these past few days. Knowing I have to report in every day makes me behave a lot better. :tt2:

64oz of Water today

1,091 total cals

35g fat

138g carbs

49g Protein

According to myplate "You may eat about 354 additional calories today. " Does that mean could eat or should eat?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
