Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Be careful of neosporin, many many people have reactions to it. It gives me a bumpy itchy angry rash if I use it on anything. This only started a few years ago when I had a mole removed.

I've taken the Brolemain pills which are just pineapple (from GNC) and also taken arnica montana pills (from Whole Foods). I also drank some pineapple juice daily. My bruises were gone by day 6, and I had Lipo. I think the stuff worked very well, actually amazingly well. I bruise very easily and they last and last and last. When I went white Water rafting in NC, I had bruises for weeks. I looked like someone beat me with a bat.

Thanks for the info. I will look for those pills. I am not having any lipo except for in the "private" area, but I am sure that there will be a lot of bruising. I will be going to GNC anyways to get some Isopure, so I will look for the pills there.

90/58 no wonder you're coughing, your body is trying to live. That is quite low in a doctor's office. Do you have your own machine to keep tabs on it?

Mine was around 100/60 every time they came check it in my hospital bed. But that's laying in bed on medication. Every time the lady tried she couldn't get a read so the nurse had to do it manually. Low blood pressure runs in my family. I wonder what it would be if I was an athelete.

No kidding! She thought that was a great BP, but I thought too low... and it was low last time I was in there and we had the same discussion about my meds. I wanted to drop one and she didn't. Should've asked then about cutting back dosage. If it continues to be low with the one med lowered, I can ask her to lower the Hyzaar, too. I started out on a lower dosage probably about 10 years ago now. But BP kept going up so my doctor at that time upped the dose. It still kept going up so then he added a second Rx.. a few years later he switched it to Sular, a lower dose on that, too, but had to up it when my BP was still too high. So it's quite encouraging to be lowering it again. If I can get them both down to minimum and stil be under control, I'll be ecstatic!! Don't have too much hope of getting completely off BP Rx because hypertension runs in the family. All three of my sisters and my Mom are all on BP meds and I think they all take two Rx also.

Rachel,

We're more than happy to have you join us, but we're mostly July 2007 LapBandsters. There are a couple of exceptions. There are July 2008 threads: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f182/

You can find them there, unfortunately, seems to me there are almost TOO many July 08 threads! Best for sharing your experiences if you're all kind of gravitated around one. But, we're here to answer any questions you might have.

Hell the best I have gotten from GS is that I was walking fast now a days (well he said running but i was just walking) so don't feel bad.

How much did they take off each of the girls???

But I have all you guys telling me I am looking "skinny" love that word Phyl. and some freinds from work they tell me not to lose anymore - but I want the 100 lbs mark and then maybe 145 - I would love to say I have a normal bmi..

I was cking out the forum threads - OMG you guys gotta go read the powder Room Girls Gone Wild thread - well maybe you better not - they are talking about tons of super personal crap = that yes we girls do talk about but in person only.. Well maybe my age is showing.. But I would never post some of that stuff on the internet where God and everyone could read it...

I am with you Janet!!! I cannot beleive some of the content there???

Did you watch that one girls UTUBE thing?? About her VaJay-jay??

Disgusting:confused2:

Peaches - I watched the video. I didn't think the video was from a girl on the site. Anyway, while watching I'm thinking: What the hell kind of human being would video tape herself talking about her big, fat, sloppy, va jay jay and post it on the internet for millions, I'm talking millions of people to see. Talking your personel business with your close friends in privacy is one thing. That video was repulsive!!!!! It absolutely disgust me how low class people are. It makes me sorry that the world I live in is so sick, Jerry Springer filthy ass disgusting sick.!!!!!!

Anyway, I have to change the tape on my wounds tonight. OMG, I'm freakin, The bottom of the T- cut is oozing on the tape a bit. I'm sick, I need a valium or a shot of Tequila.

O.k. Goodmorning everyone.... I hope you are all awake, as I am NOT...

I went to a staff mtg last night 7:30 - 10pm and when I got home my MIND would just not shut off... I watched news, Larry King, And Cooper360 TWICE!!! still couldn't numb myself down enough to sleep...

My Boss is thinking of offering Isagenix weight loss prog in our clinic. I am just NOT an advocate for this system... they are gimics pure and simple... I know this from all of the other diet gimmicks that have been around - cause I've tried them ALL>>>> that's why I ended up paying $16k for my Lap band... to be done with all that crap.

I am just now getting to the point where I can start losing the rest of my weight... but I want it to be by eating REAL food, just a whole hell of a lot less of it.... plus keep the cravings at bay.

Oh my DH made REAL coffee this a.m. -yum!~~ I even had real (low fat ) cream in it for a treat (counted the cals LOL)

My band is definetly tighter, I have to drink my coffee slowly, and work up to my oats!

Yest was a another good food choice day!!! Yeah

Sory for being so verbose this morning,,, just a Sh1t load on my mind...

Give me your thoughts on the Clinic issue

Wow! That would be a hard one to support! Do they know about your surgery??

DD cooked for us last night. I had a small piece of steak, small baked potato and green Beans. Okay choices, but it felt BAD because it's been so long since I ate a baked potato! She & I worked out on the Wii for over an hour before dinner! She's gotten really good at the stepping exercise. I can't do that. But I'm way better than her on the tilt table, soccer, and most of the balance exercises.

A baked potato is not a bad choice. Even carb-scared me ate a baked potato every once in a while.

Yesterday I went for a long run (10 miles) and pulled up with a slight injury. I have tendonitis in my achilles tendon so doctor now has me on rest until Sunday and then no long runs (nothing more than 3 miles) until the race. If I had been running the half marathon I would have run through the pain, but I stopped before I had finished the full 12 miles that I was going to do because I figured there was no point in injuring myself during training.

Another good news, my insurance did cover my cymbalta and it is only 20$ a month. First decent thing my insurance has done!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
