It's good to have you back Phyl. I wanted to thank you again (I can't remember if I thanked you to begin with :smile2: ) for the papaya enzyme suggestion. Believe it or not, those and chewable vitamins were the only sustenance I had for a couple of days.

You are more than welcome! Things are going better now, right?!

I can't stand not being on here!! But, I've had DH's computer for a couple of hours now catching up on everything and he wants it back! Can't figure out why mine won't log on. It was spotty, but logging on for the first two days our "mobile internet cafe" was gone! Those RV neighbors left a message on our phone yesterday.. . "why aren't you answering our emails???" Duh!! You took away my internet connection. they'll be back, but not until next week. And if the weather doesn't get better, it might be longer than that. They're only 40 miles away but the weather is so much better there... Guess they'e under the protection of the mountains.

Can you believe that DH FORGOT TO GIVE ME THE MESSAGE that the doctor called today?!@!? Unbelieveable, except that he is so into his own life. . . I could cry. Anyway, they the doctor feels that the slippage is minimal and my pouch is not dilated at all so they want me to try to slowly advance my diet for the next couple of weeks and if all goes well, they may try refilling in 2 weeks. I am so relieved.

Phyl--Great job on the 2.9--close enough--3 pounds! That's fantastic. Glad you thought to use DH computer to get online!! Hopefully we'll start seing more of you again.

Ruby--if the other advice doesn't help, one other thing you can try is an oil enema. I don't think you need a prescription for them--probably can get them in the drugstore, although I never looked for 'em. it's just about a half cup that will soften things up and after about 20 min, you should be able to get some relief. If nothing else works, you can call the doctor--there are some things that they can do. From now on, I'd recommend some kind of daily Fiber supplements like Metamucil or Fibercon and again, Water, water, water!

Thanks! Exercised 5 days this week, too, so hopefully will see a good loss next week, too.

Yes, I was beginning to have LBT withdrawl symptoms!! I came close to calling Janet on the phone!! I know her days are very busy and I didn't want to interrupt her routine, so I restrained myself! I did do some reading since I couldn't get online, but mostly I played computer Mah Jong!!

I don't usually have THAT problem, but I keep a bag of prunes around just in case. You can buy them in resealable bags. I like the orange flavored prunes.

DH is being SO patient... I still have his laptop!! More than three hours. I must get off here!!

I got this on an email and thought you gals would get a good kick out of it!!

I'll be posting my update here soon too.

One for the girls

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray the Lord my shape to keep.

Please no wrinkles, Please no bags

And please lift my butt before it sags.

Please no age spots, Please no gray

And as for my belly, Please take it away.

Please keep me healthy, Please keep me young,

And thank you Dear Lord, For all that you've done.

Five tips for a woman.....

1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.

2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.

3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to You.

4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.

5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

Foot Note:

One saggy boob said to the other saggy boob:

"If we don't get some support soon, people will think we're nuts."

So, I just had to report some more NSV's to my fellow bandsters!!

My weight loss has plateaued again, which I don't understand because I'm not eating much at all!! But oh well, my body is still catching up to the weight loss. So last weekend, we took the high school youth group from our church up to Wolf Creek to go skiing. The last time I went skiing was in Jan of 06, I was 55 pounds heavier and I had problems getting the boots on because my calves were too big. They had to jerry-rig them to get them to fit. So, I was apprehensive going into this, but knew I wanted to ski. Let me tell you, I had a blast, and I'm sure I burned a heck of a lot of calories that day. The boots actually fit, and I could even feel my feet at the end of the day.

So, I also decided that it was finally time for me to get some new clothes. I had been waiting until I was out of plus sizes, but just decided I wasn't losing all this weight to look horrible in clothes that were 4 sizes too big. I went to Ross & Kohl's on Wednesday and actually fit into a regular 16. Some stuff is still too tight in my arms and thighs, but I was able to get into most of it. I'll take some pics and post them to my blog sometime for you all to see. I'm actually picking clothes that are cute, and as I lose more, I really want to look cuter and cuter. :)

Ruby, I wanted to chat about your surgery. I had a breast reduction done in Feb 05, and besides the band was one of the best decisions I could have made. I think I was a 42H before surgery, and now am about a 38C. I've been a full C cup since 05, but I've been losing the size in my chest, not in the bust. Are you a cash pay for that or is insurance covering it? I was actually able to get insurance to cover it after I complained to my various docs and they all recommended getting it done.

Once I get down to goal, I really want to go back to Ireland and get a picture kissing the Blarney Stone. I have a pic of me doing that before any weight loss, and breast reduction and since you are laying on your back leaning over a ledge, all that fat really sticks out. That's the big thing I'm looking forward to.

I have been lurking around here since I last posted, but just haven't posted. I will go back though and find my goals because I think I have met some of them!!

I hope you all had a good week, and I'll make sure I'm back on this weekend.

~Nichole

Phyl

I was going to call you too - but not sure your # still on my phone - plus I know you have a cell - and didn't want to run up your minutes - you know how us girls are when we get on the phone - call anytime you want - I am not that routine - and I ALWAYS have time for my friends...

I tivo most of my programs anyway - so I'm not missing anything - anyway

My GF Billie and I use to talk on the phone and watch t.v. - yep that's right she would be at her house and I would be at mine and we would both be watching the olymipics on the t,v. and talking about it.. - her mom would call and she would tell her Janet and I are on the phone watching t.v. - we cracked her mom up.. So feel free to call anytime I really mean that ....

Janet, I'm a full time student and will graduate in December with my BS in Elementary Ed and a Content Emphasis in Math.

Pun intended I hope -

Congrats on your comming graduation - Another educator in our group - must be something about Teachers & Insurance people being overweight

The first time I went to an Insurance Women Convenition - there were tons of fat chicks - I didn't feel out of place - it was the skinny ones who where out of place - and it seems like we have a lot of teachers just in #7 and on this whole board - stress = eating = fat..

Math 1+1 = 2 - that's about the extend of my math - in 6th grade my gs had algebra - told the teacher - there was no way I could help with home work - when they tried to teach me that Z+A=Y - I said why do I have to learn this I am never going to use it being a legal secertary (that's what I wanted to be when I was in high school) so I flunked out and got put in general math.

Me - Insurance = Senior Account Manager & License Agent Property & Causalty I work Commercial Lines which is Business Insurance - Contractors - Country Clubs larger type accounts & business...

Ever wanna just sit back and lurk? I have worked so hard this week that I just could not muster up the energy to do any more than work, lurk and sleep. Yes, I am a nurse but not in the traditional sense of the word. I am a corporate educator for a local hospital, so I guess you could say that I am also a teacher. And I have taught, trained and lectured so much this week that I had literally lost my voice by yesterday. And my throat still hurts. I have gone through a whole box of Sucrets (sp?) and whole pack of cough drops.

Karri-I posted a very much used "remedy" that we use in the hospital frequently for Constipation. I used to fix it for my friend who had gastric bypass and she swears that when nothing else works, this does. It is a very simple remedy. Mix approx 2oz of Milk of Magnesia and approx 4oz of Prune juice and heat in the microwave to a very warm temp (not hot) and drink it. Doesn't tast as bad as it sounds but it works great.

Ok..I am now out of energy..TTYL

Yah, major pun intended!! I know for me, I'm glad I'm doing this now instead of later. It's taken me 11 years to get this degree, and I'm super glad that I'm almost done.

I know Math is a pretty sick thing, but I'd so much rather do that than English any day of the week!!

Janet, how far away are you from Riverside? My hubby has reserve duty out there and I'm hoping to come out soon for one of his reserve weekends. :)

Before we moved here, I worked for Ameritrade in Omaha. I really got the secretary spread because a lot of my eating I did when I was bored, and for the most part, I was bored for the 6 1/2 years while I worked there.

Well I don't like english either - wtf is the use of diagram a sentence - useless - as long at it sound ok that all that matters - heck I cant type I am always droping words - spelling terrible (it use to be better but just like speed dial - you don't learn #'s anymore - spell ck makes you be lazy too)

Since he's a reservist, he is only there for one weekend a month, so yes I would have time to see you guys. No private time is necessary!! I'll have to see if I can come out with him in March. I think he is supposed to be out there the last weekend. I'll keep you posted and see if we can hook up. It'd be awesome to meet you in person.

On another subject...

So, about dear AF. I've figured out since I got my fill in December that I feel like a bottomless pit for about 2 days before she comes. Then while she is here, I can hardly eat anything and find myself sliming and PBing more than anything. Has anyone else experienced this? Wednesday I was debating going back down to Phoenix for a slight unfill, but today I was ok. I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this. :)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
