Karri

Sorry to hear you are still sick :cool2: - chicken Soup - I swear by it - but home made..

I am so glad 98% of the time that I don't have a BF or DH to have to deal with (I think I am the only single gal - no chim & dini are single too - so will say the only older single gal in our group) and I am proud of you for going to your party anyway - I would have just stayed home him most likely - well I guess it really would depend on the sitiuation -my x-dh was too controlling could go anywhere by myself .. execpt to the store etc..

I am glad that Phyl is going too to the support group - at least I will know someone - Pam the other girl I know from here and is another Dr Bobby patient isn't going - but I think her friend is - but I only met her once prior to being banded - this is my 1st banded support group meeting :)- so will see how it goes - knowing me I am going to try and run it  you guy know what a big mouth i am - always spouting off my ideas and thoughts ...:huh2:

It will be very interesting to say the least...

Well better get a few more things done...

Talk to ya'll later

Janet - have fun at your group. I have been wanting to start one up and I have noticed quite a few newbies here that are from Michigan. Maybe I can start something. I'll meet up in Chicago. It's only a four hour drive for me. We spent a lot of time there when my granddaughter was transplanted. I love it there.

Steph- What do you teach? Only six kids? is it a private school or what?

Okay, I have a problem here and am not quite sure what to do so I'm going to ask your opinion. First off, I have sleep apnea and use a C-pap machine at night. I mentioned earlier here that I have discovered I drool pretty bad. Someone here mentioned that they were choking on saliva at night, so I said, okay, that is probably it. Now, the past few mornings, I've been waking up burping. A lot. It stops when I turn the machine off. Is this the band? Or is it happening because I've lost weight and the air setting is now too high? Will getting too much air cause problems with the band? Then, should I call my primary care doctor or should I call the sleep clinic? I'm not sure what to do. ANY IDEAS??

HAVE A GOOD EVENING. SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW..

Janet you look GREAT!!! What a difference!! Congratulations!!

Steph- Those nights with the family really help sometimes. It is great to see you got to spend some quality time and are feeling better.

Peaches-how are you doing? Still feeling restriction?

I never remember who posted what when I get here. :) Everyone else that has posted from your posted you seem to be doing wonderful.

I have been sick the past almost week now. 15_6_26.gif Cold and cough crud. Still not getting over it. I have noticed that my band has tightened

since becoming sick. Not to the point of pbing but it is tighter. Actually kind of hoping to keep the restriction I have.

Well I am off to post pictures in the other thread and then to take some more cough meds and back to bed. Night all

I too have sleep apnea. When I was diagnosed and given my c-pap before surgery the sleep clinic tech told me that after losing some weight I would probably need titrated again. He told me some people need their settings changed after losing 20 pounds and some other can stay the same but if I found that I was not able to sleep real well or that the air flow seemed to be uncomfortable to come back. I was told I had to go to the sleep clinic again though. I do not use the c-pap anymore. It is in the closet. They told me that since losing weight I seem to be doing fine but if I start having head aches in the am or feel really tired all the time again or anyone noticing me gasping for air in the night I should start using it again. I would ask your doc about it.

THAT'S IT!!! That was the 4th thing I am going to do this summer when I get closer to my ideal weight. Go for another sleep study! Kari--I think that may be your problem--either your settings are too high, or maybe you don't need it at all. How much have you lost? I definitely would call the sleep clinic and see what they think, but it wouldn't surprise me if they tell you to have another study to retitrate!

Morning everyone,

I had a rough day yesterday. I felt awful the whole day. Sunday night I woke 3 times choking on my saliva and ended up sleep semi-upright on the couch so as not to disturb my hubby. Yesterday all I could get down was 2 cups of hot tea and a cup of carrot and ginger Soup. I had to force myself to drink the tea and it did make me feel better for an hour or so each time, but then I got nauseous all over again.

I've been burping like stupid since my fill on Friday. I'm probably a little too restricted, but I only got .25cc put in and I'm afraid if I get even a little taken out it will push me to the other end of the scale and I won't lose any weight at all. :huh2:

But I need to get more food and liquids into me as soon as I can or my metabolism will come to a grinding halt. And I don't want that! The only trouble is, I'm not hungry. Being ill yesterday has really put me off any kind of food. Maybe I need to try more soup but even the thought of a creamy soup makes me want to barf. As does thinking about the consistency of my usual Protein Shakes. Geez Louise these appetite mood swings are driving me round the bend.

The good news is, I've lost 6lbs since Friday, but my official weigh in isn't until Sat so it could go up again by then. Whoever the fools are that say WLS is the easy way out needs to get their head examined! Or I'll knock it off for them! I'm in a grumpy mood today.

Ruby, That sounds exactly like what I went through with my last fill. And I mean exactly. I lost 6 lbs in 5 days and by day 5 I was starting to worry about dehydration. I told myself that if something didn't change over the weekend I was going to swallow my pride and call for an unfill. I got .6ml in my band and that was the largest fill I had had at one time. But on Sat (day 6) I had loosened up enough to get a good amount of soup in and then by a few days later I was getting food down, although in small amts. I still have problems with the burps and nearly aspirating at night but if I dont eat so close to bedtime it isn't too bad. I also have a wedge that I sleep on if I am having problems. I would recommend buying a bed wedge for anyone who has problems choking at night. Hang in there for a few days and see if you don't loosen up. But the again, I am still very tight and some ppl don't like to be this tight. I kinda like it. Really keeps me in check.

Kira,

Sounds like your settings need adjusting. Just like medications, as we loose weight all of these medical crutches that we have depended upon for so long either become obsolete or need to be decreased. I have came off of all my medications except for 2 and those 2 I will never be able to stop. I am on a thyroid med and a heart (not bp) pill. The last time I went to my PCP, he said "just out of curiosity, lets do a TSH (thyroid test). Well, mine was so low it nearly did not register at all. The office called me in a panic saying to not take anymore of my present dose, that they had called me in a lower dose and to go pick it up immediately. And I caught my cardiologist in the hallway the other day and told her that I could not take my night pill because it slowed my heart down too much at night and dropped my BP out the bottom. So she actually changed my type of med altogether. So I would recommend calling your PCP and ask them what the process is for you to get your settings adjusted. You know, it is a possibility that you may actually come off of that C-PAP machine.

Hey guys, I just checked out the Progress Pic site and you all are looking "MOVALUS". Ok the rest of you slackers, lets see some before and after pics :tt1:

Chicago huh? Hubby has a new job and won't get to take vacation till sometime in September so I am afraid I may not make it. But then again...I could come without him, huh? :wink2:

Ok, so it's been a while and I owe a huge apology to you Janet for not logging on to wish you a Happy Birthday!! I hope you had a great day (even though you couldn't eat).

So, here are my NSV's I've been wanting to share with you all. One is that I have two pairs of size 22 jeans that I can now get off and on without unbuttoning or unzipping them. It makes me laugh when I have people telling me that I need to buy new clothes. I've been waiting to buy new clothes until I'm completely out of plus, and I'm pretty sure I'm getting awful close. My problem with pants and stuff is that I carry most of my weight between my stomach and thighs. :tt1: Oh well, it's all going away slowly but surely. :wink2: I feel like the marshmallow "wo"man when I wear my winter coat, but I absolutely refuse to buy a new one this year. Also, I'm getting excited because I have about 30 pounds to go, and my hubby and I are going to start to take action to have a family. I'm super excited and know with the weight loss that pregnancy is going to so much safer because of this.

Well, I'm down to 214 (started at 268) and I thought I'd be under 200 by now, but oh well. It's not happening as fast as I'd like it to be, but it's still moving in the right direction.

I've attached a picture montage and the big picture in the middle is of me from tonight. I forgot to take pics for my 6 month, so here's the 7 month. Hopefully it's not too big and if it is, I'm sorry, but I think we are close to the end of a page, so it shouldn't be on for long. The only reason that the Vegas pic is on here is because I have the same sweater on and I can't believe the difference in how it fits and even that's starting to get big and it's only an XL. I shouldn't have been wearing it back then, but I thought it was cute, and think it's even cuter now. :huh2:

I really love my band family here and even though I'm not good at posting, I do read all the time and love hearing of your successes and trials because I'm having the same ones!!j

Hopefully it won't be as long between posts.

~Nichole

Thanks Kartrina. It does feel a slight bit looser this morning. Insofar as I got a hot chocolate down for Breakfast. (Thanks lindaa - no rotten tomatoes from me. :wink2:)

I didn't read your message until late last night and I was struggling through some fluids. *sigh* I think I've discovered that, for now at least, I'm really finding it hard to get any liquids in that aren't heated. Hot tea, soup and hot chocolate go down easier. Room temp Water, cold tea, ice water send me into burping fits and can easily become PBing and sliming episodes. I did, however, manage to get in half a handful of fish crackers. So that's progress.

I have a wedge pillow that I bought for after my breast surgery and have been trying to use that. It's really tough for me because in the past couple of years I've become a "no pillow" sleeper, so sleeping semi-upright is kind of uncomfortable. I needed an extra pillow under the wedge last night to prop me up even more as I a few choking episodes again.

This morning I felt awful again. So much so that I didn't get to the gym. But I did manage that hot chocolate, and in half an hour I have the pleasure of a visit to the dentist. :tt1: I'm not sure I can even get through that. Brushing my tongue this morning set off my gag reflexes. So I'll have to warn them beforehand that I'm sensitive to almost everything at the moment.

I might try and heat my water up today so I can get more of that down. I'm not even managing half my daily requirement. Protein Shakes are still out of the question. I'm going to try a soft boiled egg to get something in me. Maybe go to the market a little later to find some fish. So long as it's fresh.

But still, I'm not hungry.... I really enjoy this loss of appetite, but I need to work on my Fluid intake for health reasons.

Nichole, I agree with you, that sweater does look so much cuter now. I also think I like your hair straighter. You're looking fabulous and doing really well. It won't be long until you're in the Onderland club! There's a party waiting when you get here. :tt1:

Good Morning Gang

Peaches - here is the link to the Brag Photos - http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f94/progress-picture-brag-thread-51324/

I usually just go to my account and it shows all my subscriptions - I rarely come in thru the July 2007 link - so that's where it's at

This is the new place to post pics.

I have everything I can cross - crossed for you...

Jackie - LOOKING FANTASTIC GIRL !!!!! Hope you are feeling better

Nichole - OMG YOU ARE DOING GREAT !!!!

Kari - Call your sleep clinic - I agree what was said... I no longer use my cpap machine - infact took it back to them in Dec - I had slight sleep apnea - I never stopped breathing just that my breathing got real shallow - I haven't used mine since surgery - kept getting bills for $11 bucks a month so said here's your machine...

Katrina - You don't have to bring your hubby - Girls weekend....

Do you guys really want to do this - I think it would be fun ...

Linda and everyone else - We want pictures...

Ruby - I know how hard it is to get the Water in when you are tight - hugs to you hope it loosens up soon...

IT'S OFFICAL !!!

WE HAVE THE BEST SUPPORT GROUP !!!!

Phyl & I went to the 1st lapband support group meeting here in the Desert last nite - there were 8 banders (incl me & Phyl) - 1 prebander and the lady who leads it. It was alright - but can't say that I am willing to give up exercise and a late night (got home 8:30 ish - I am at work by 7:15 a.m so that makes for a long day) to go.. It was a little disorginized imho - we scared the newbie with our pbing stories - and I can't beleive she said she did her research but didn't know what PBing was - I told her I though you did your research .. It just popped out - I guess that's one of the very 1st terms I learn when I was on this site.. I kept pushing LBT telling them you have 24/7 support here - 2 girls were Aug - 3 of us July and 1 guy October and the other guy I don't know - I guess they usually have speakers for exercise - head hunger etc - we will see - they have one closer to me and it's both bypass & banders - they say we have the same mental issues - but we do have diff phyical issues - but it doesn't start til 6 p.m and I am such a routine person - work - gym - home and don't know if i want to shower and get dressed again to go out.. I guess I could go all sweaty from the gym:wink2:.

I think you should go all sweaty because then you can show how you are putting your new lifestyle to work. At least Phyl was there, that in itself made it worth going I am sure.

Well I am back at work today, but still sick. Now on top of being sick I am so far behind that I don't even know where to get started. I just graded an entire stack of projects and not one was fully completed. In the new grading system we are using that means that I turn them back to the students and it is up to them to fix them and turn them back in for a real grade. Right now they all received an "I" which stands for in progress. I really like the system as it makes the class about learning the material and demonstrating their understanding rather than just earning enough points to pass the class. However when the idiots pull a stunt like this because they are too lazy to read the rubric that I have given them, then I have double the grading work for no good reason. Oh well, perhaps I should pass them off on my principal to grade. He offered!!

I can't wait to post pictures, but I want to wait 3 more days until my 6 month bandiversary. I am really starting to see a big change. Finally, my mind is catching up with me!

Okay back to work, I have to start somewhere.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Does anyone ever get an uncomfortable feeling under their left boob?

I'm guessing that is where the band is. I notice it most if I wear a bra that does not have good support. I usually straighten up my posture and adjust my bra and it goes away. Just wondering if it is normal for others to get this feeling sometimes.

Thanks,

Sonya

Yep Karri you are right about that one - and in person you can really see her weight lost !!!!!

Sonya - are you talking about your band or your port - sometime if I am slouching I will get a pinch feeling - but readjust by sitting up and am ok - my port is about 3 or 4 inches below my bra - I have been noticing pinch feeling when i bend over to put my tennies on - but its on the right side by my liver - like scar tissue straining - we that's what I put it off to...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
