Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Good morning! I am up and about, drinking my Protein shake and sipping Water. I'm still sore, but that's to be expected. No gas pain, no shoulder pain...woohoo! Stomach is bloated and tender.

The hospital experience itself was great. All my nurses were good to me and took great care. I do have a busted blood vessel in my right eye. It's ugly. The nurse anesthetist thinks it may be from the change in blood pressure from anesthesia. I'm just s'posed to watch it to make sure it doesn't get bigger. I just wish it would go away.

In the hospital, I was up walking around and doing my little breathing exercises (into that little plastic thing they give you). All the staff kept saying how well I looked and was doing. My doc wanted to discharge me sooner than 8pm last night, but he got called into emergency surgery. He ended up calling me on the phone b/c he was STILL in surgery. He apologized profusely, asked me how I was doing, looked at my x-rays and said all looked well. He asked if I was ready to go home. Hell yeah I was.

Well, I'm about to go to the store to get my pain meds and Prevacid. I will be back on in a little while.

I wish everyone who's going today, the best. You'll be fine!

I'm just checking in. It's been just the saddest week ever. My daughter-in-law wanted to make a scrapbook for her sister, so my house was turned into a scrapbook factory for a couple of days. It was wonderful to see so many people come over and help out with a page or two, but also so sad to look of the pictures of the little boy and his family and know how much he will be missed. The funeral was last night--so so so sad.

I did manage to lose another 4 pounds, so that's a good thing. Tomorrow I will start mushies--lookin forward to that. Did I mention how much I HATE the Protein shakes? I try to get them down, but it seems such a shame to waste calories on them! Now a slice of cheese or eggs or tuna. . .

Lindaa, I am sure this has been a tough week! Losing a child is always so difficult!! I will keep everyone in my prayers! It will be hard for a very long time!! It is hard to reason out the loss of a child!!!! :think

Caolin, You will get used to the CPAP, was last night any better?

Chim, I am soooo jealous of those of you with no gas pains or should pain! IF you don't have that, you got the worst of it licked! Were you able to sleep well last night?

I am so glad all went well with you! You are a special young lady and we have missed you online!!!

Bobberts Mom, Good for you!!! So glad you are feeling well! Last evening, I had my first "stuck", lol! Totally my fault! Had to have a slice of turkey lunchmeat and didn't chew it well enough ... let's just say I learned my lesson, lol!!! 15 minutes that you feel sure you are having a heart attack!!!! YIKES!! I will be much more careful!!! I was get nonchalant about it all and feeling I could eat whatever I want, so that was my "reminder!!!!" Guess it really is there and that it DOES work!!!! Oh well, lesson learned!!!

Good morning to all my lucky #7's!

I can't believe how many of us are already on today, looks like 10 are active right now! We are some involved bandsters!

I am so psyched because I just weighed in and I have lost-drumroll please-9 pounds in one week! That feels so good and makes this liquid diet hell even more worthwhile. Actually, I shouldn't even say hell because I grudgingly went back to one slim fast low carb shake to replace one meal and it made a big difference in my hunger over the past four days. Tomorrow I start blended/pureed so I can start scrambled eggs, I am so excited it's like Christmas in July!

Chimboree-glad to hear you had a good experience. After being our cheerleader for the whole month, now we get to be yours!

Dini-I'm interested to hear if you have felt any more restriction since your first fill? Do you fell less hungry yet?

To everyone else, I read your posts and feel like I know you all. Good luck to you all. Man, this weight loss is like a natural high! I feel so pumped! Off to work now, have a good day everyone!:kiss2::):kiss2::):kiss2:

Morning everyone.

I feel great! I slept really well, with my "pillow mountain" as my DH calls it. Under my knees, on each side and under my head.

Woke up with a little soreness in my abdoman, but nothing really too bad. I took some tylonal last night and this morning, but not the persription meds they gave me (demerol). I hate how that stuff makes me feel, so thought I would just take some tylonal.

Ok a bit of TMI comming... I had my first BM just a few minutes ago. I honestly didn't think that would happen for a few days. In the past when I had my gall bladder out, I couldn't for about 4 days. This one came just as normally as it would.

So far, so good. I must say thanks to the Dr. as he must have done a great job!!

dieka, have a great day! So glad you are doing well and starting mushies!!! Good for you! It does make a difference, just be careful of what you eat ... tends to slow down the weight loss, but seems to recoup quickly!!!

Yeah, I slept relatively well. Got up twice to drink some Water, move around and reposition, but otherwise, I slept good.

I hope we hear for Sunny soon. I think she said she was going to be spending the night... so hopefully later today.

OK, I am getting ready to go to the hospital and freaking out slightly. My DH did not help and started teasing me about me food. I told him to fuck off. Then he said " I know wha's in store for me during the next month" which made me that much more upset. So then I started crying and he stormed off. What a way to begin the day. I am also pissed off because he is going to drop me off at the hospital and go to work, then wait for my call to come and pick me up. I know he is totally swamped but I thought that was inconsidered of him. It's kind of sad to think the dr. is going to finish the procedure and there will be no one outside for her to report to on how it went. My family is in Brazil, my BF told me yesterday 'call me when you feel better' without asking 'do you need help/company?' and I haven't told anybody else really. Maybe I should have. And then Dh says he has to go to work all weekend. Bullshit, he just wants to be away from me. He is not a good caregiver at all, every time I get sick I need not to count on him. When he gets sick I of course go out of my way caring for him. Oh, I am so frustrated right now.

Sarah was already asleep when we came home. Jesse was still awake. My 17 year old niece was watching them for us.

When I walked in he saw me and said "You all ok?" I said I was good. He said "No owie?" I said, yes, I've got 5. He said "cool, can I see", so I showed him. He then said "I kiss you. No squeezy hug". I think he understands.

This morning I got up at 7 to have a drink of juice and he asked me again if I was feeling ok. My daughter was still sleeping, then I went back to bed and didn't wake up until my DH had left to take them to daycare. He's at work right now, so I have the place to myself.

Cazulay, Hang in there! Men can be quite inconsiderate sometimes! They turn into big babies when they are sick! Just remember, you are doing this for yourself, not for him! Think of it is a "body and spirit lift!!" He will come around! Maybe he has a case of the nerves too, they aren't the best at expressing themselves!!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
