As a Canadian, I have a special pride in your beautiful photos, even though Whistler is on the other side of the country to me !!!!

What a wonderful looking family you have.

Thanks, Kathy!

I grew up in Buffalo NY so I was more famiar with Eastern Canada until we moved to the west coast.

Wow, tonight had a lot of different topics. It was a fun read trying to catch up. Let's see if I get this right...

Lynette: Ooo La La, go for it. I just am wondering why you are still online at 10:37 pm if tonights the night. LOL

Sunny: No one could or would forget you. You bring light to all of us.

Aunt Phil: I looked at your photos again... man I love it out west. What a great place to go just before your surgery.

Dini: Annafrancesca is beautiful. She looks like such an intelligent little girl, and one who has a clear understanding of just what she wants to do.

Christie: You have such wonderful ideas and advice for people, and your picture (Avatar?) shows a beautiful woman.

Today is day 6 of the pre-op hell diet. I oopsed and had a few bites of veggie pizza, but still about 500-600 cals. I really can't wait for the surgery.

My DH finished the painting in the kitchen. It looks really good. I went out and bought the new sink, faucet and knobs and handles for the cabinets... so exciting!!!! It looks like it will all be in by Friday night, except for some finishing touches.

To everyone who said they liked my kitchen "before" pictures, I guess the photo didn't do it the justice it deserved. The facings look ok in spots, the the cupboards are rotted out on the inside, and the doors are falling off!!! The floor had black mould growing underneath the vinal, and the counter was mushy and warped. Can you say Water DAMAGE.

My DH has taken about a 1000 pictures of the construction process, so when its all done, I share a few choice shots and the "after" or "reveal" shot.

Well, now I have to go off to bed to do that really kinky thing everyone has alluded to with my DH. You see, I still can, because my surgery isn;t until next week. LOL. Goodnight all !

Kathybad, I'm getting to head to "bed" now. We watch the show Pirate Masters, reality TV, we are so into. We watch just about all of them. Survivor is our favorite, and then Big Brother. So the shows over, the news is starting, and I'm heading up the stairs in just a few minutes.

Had to check on one thing real quick. He's waited this long, another few minutes won't kill him.LOL!!!

Last night I went to bed ready to eat my arm...but this morning I woke up and it was not so bad. This afternoon it came back with a vengeance. But not as bad as it was before, I guess all the Protein doesn't leave room for low blood sugar. I could feel the pang in my stomach but not the blood sugar. So that's good news I guess. Also, my skin is looking amazing!!! I have eczema, and prior to this change in diet my nose and ears were looking horrible but now they are so soft and smooth!!! I can't stop touching them :biggrin1: I am SO happy! OMG I never realized what an impact food has onour bodies until this week.

Chimboree, love your new picture

Dini, yuor daughter is way too cute! Thanks for sharing those beatiful pictures- she really is Irish, isn't she? :)

Good luck to all being banded tomorrow- let us know how you do.

Questions of the day( if I may)- What's your current workout routine?

I hope this question hasn't been posted, I missed a couple of days here and was too lazy to go back and read everyting.

OK, I will go first: I have been going to Curves 3x/week for a year now, and have recently added 40 minutes walks in the very nice hike/bike trail I have less than 1 block from my house and had never used before :D. Oh well better late than never. I do that 2x/week. When I get back from the walk I do a series of dumbell exercises. On the weekends I take a break, because I am only human( very human actually)!!!! I think I need to add more built-in exercise to my day, like being more active, doing more around the house, parking farther away from the store, taking the stairs etc....

Thanks you all for being here. You rock!

Questions of the day( if I may)- What's your current workout routine?

Okay, hadn't done much up until about 3 months ago! Got lazy and slacked off, lol! had my membership (confession time), but just didn't do it!!! :think Not good, don't plan to do it again, but somehow, knowing me, I may ... I exercise currently 5 days a week at a HealthStyle Facility. I try to do as much cardiovascular as I can tolerate each time and have been steadily able to increase the amount of time on each. I am a little concerned that this time off for recovery will set me back a bit, but we will see.

:confused:Today was my first day of driving since surgery and I parked across the parking lot, each place I went and then walked back and forth to various stores. Felt great! A little surprised being that I woke up last night unable to move or barely get out of bed with my back. Not sure what that is all about, then came the leg cramps! Needless to say, I didn't sleep much last night ... ahh, and look what I am doing tonight???? YIKES! Actually, afraid to lay down! Don't want to end up like last night!!!

Tonight I also had my first Support Group Meeting! There were probably 30 people there, both men and women. We were shown how to make various tuna and chicken salads, but unfortunately I was running late (thanks to my dog not coming back from her potty run!), so I didn't get to hear all of that! We also received a pamphlet of some recipes from the Nutrionist and a list of names, numbers, and e-mail addresses for support! I could of told them, I have my own!!!! LOL No, but seriously, they are working on putting up a site like this for the particular bandsite where I had my surgery. So that will be helpful down the road for other bandsters. The doctor, his nurses, the fitness trainer, the nutrionist, and the lapband patients waiting/banded for awhile/newly banded were all there talking in a rather informal gathering. Kind of nice!

:confused:Get this, the doc was talking about the 2 girls that were banded last Monday (one being me) and said he thought the first one's band was very tight (ME) and the second's loose, but when we did the Barium Swallow test, it was just the opposite! He said the first one's (ME) just ran through, while the second's went through nice and slow!!! Gee, why am I always the LUCKY one????? He also said the first one won't have any actual restriction until he injects Fluid at 6 weeks post-op!!

No wonder I feel like I could eat just about anything ... I think I can!!!!:faint:

Oh, and they also showed us these little tunafish cans that they say you can get at Wal-Mart and are only about 3 oz. Perfect to take with you when leaving the house. Oh and actually some barbecue chicken, I believe they said Lloyd's (also at Wal-Mart) that you can warm up and eat. They said it comes in a tub and is finally shredded and is really quite tasty! So some thoughts to ponder!:clap2:

Well, gonna wrap it up for the night and see if I can't find a way to rest tonight! Amazing how my back felt pretty good all day and here it is time to sleep and it's back!!!! Night all!:notagree

I'm a reality show junkie too. I love Survivor, in fact, I'm friends with one of the past contestents...Rafe from Guatemala. I knew him before he went on Survivor and the show didn't change him at all. He's still one of the sweetest guys around.

Anyway, I'm off to bed. I have to be at the hospital at 6AM for blood work. I'll be staying over night at the hospital so I'll check in on Thursday after i get back. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes.

Dini girl, Annafrancesca is just so utterly adorable. Takes after her mom I see. Love the curls. She could be mine. My Kelly had curls just like that but very blonde. She still does.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
