Dini, 50 posts per page, OMG. I think I only get 20 to 25. I though it depended on the size of them too. HMMM.

:help:Just curious what kind of Protein powder you are using to mix in with various liquids/foods? Also - what kind of Protein shakes? Are the SlimFast Optima (extra protein) o.k.?

Also...kind of a gross question :speechles, but one I've been wondering about - if you do vomit, do you just vomit the "stuff" from the pouch, or does "stuff" from the rest of your stomach get forced through the band as well? Forgot to ask my Dr. that one...yuck...

Muchas Gracias!

Dini, I'm so jealous, you've been to all these cool places, only most Americans can dream of going too. Too cool.

Remember our Carribean Cruise. I can go anywhere on a boat, forever. Love to sail, only I've never been on a cruise. My aunt had a huge boat, when I was about 14, 15 years old. That's the last time I can remember wearing a MONO BIKINI- remember those. It was a bikini where the top and bottom attached at the sides. The whole belly and back area were open, like a bikini. Oh brother, those were the days. Anyway, I went out with her often on her boat. So I can cruise to see you.

unruhlyhd, I use Jay Bobbs unflavored Protein powder. I found it at a healthy alternatives store near where I live. I know his products sell in Biggs, but I think it's local too. You can order on line at Jayrobb.com.

I paid $27.95 for 24 oz. I like it better than the unjury I tried in my taste test class.

As for shakes, I just use the powder, skim milk and ice. I do use the slim fast optima. Love the Cappuccino flavor, and I mix it with vanilla powder. It's creamy and smooth.

Also, try the vanilla with some cinnammon and a splenda pack, or what ever artificial sweetner you use. It's good.

Hi everyone. Sorry that I didn't post yesterday, it was a long day and we couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work at the hospital. I can't believe that I had 10+ pages to catch up on from yesterday and this morning.

I had surgery at 8 and I think I got back to the PACU around 9:30. I'm still waiting to talk to the surgeon to figure out what band he used and how much saline is already in it. The new bands that he's using are filled during surgery.

I finally got up to my room around 1:30, because of staffing issues with the nurses they were waiting for a bed to become available. One of the best things was that the rooms were all private!

We had been told that the Dr. would come up during rounds, but he never came so finally at 7 my husband asked the nurse if she could call the Dr to see if he was coming up because we wanted to get out of there. They can't make me stay if there wasn't a reason too. I had been up walking and was using the restroom so everything was working how it should have been I almost wish they would have just let me go from the recovery room.

Funny story for you though when I was getting up a 4:30 yesterday morning, I used the bathroom and everything was fine. I also used it at the hospital before they got me hooked up to the IV and Aunt Flo had decided to come and visit. I was so mad...I had been telling her all last week that she needed to come before Thursday or after Tuesday. But we all know that Flo has a mind of her own.

I remember being in a lot of pain yesterday when I came to after surgery, but they gave me some good pain meds. I'm still in some pain but I'm using Tylenol today to see if I can handle it. The hardest thing has been sipping the Water and other drinks because I just want to drink it all up. :)

Well, I'll write more later. Hope you have a great day!

Great job Nicole. So did your Dr. ever come in? Did you get to go home last night or did you spend the night there? Lots of "Aunts" have been visiting for our female banders. So sorry to hear your's didn't want to stay at home yesterday,LOL.

I've been drinking a lot faster this week. Not gulping, but a few swallows at a time at least. There's only so much time, and a lot of Water to get in.

So I was bad and got on the darn scale again this morning. NO LOSS, and then I realized my "Aunt" is coming to town any day now. I hate it because she always comes unannounced. Don't you just hate unannounced guests!!!!! SO RUDE!!!!!!

Aunt Flo sure clocks up the frequent flyer points! She's due for a visit here any day now, which is good I guess. It'll put me mid-cycle come surgery day. My ovaries ache today (thanks for that PCOS :) ). That's usually a sign for me that menstrual cyclone is about to hit.

Warning: If I suddenly start making threats of bodily harm and in the next breath offer peace offerings of chocolate covered pain killers, pay not attention to me. :)

Hi Everyone. I just got home from my hospital stay, was banded yesterday. So far, so good too. I have not been in any real pain and I am moving around really good. I did finally take some pain meds late last night because I just could not sleep and I was hoping it would put me down for a while. I have not had any gas pains yet either, but I know that could come later on too. I had a great stay in the hospital too, I had a beautiful private room with a view of the golf course out back. Nothing I had planned on, thats for sure, but it was a nice bonus.

Hope everyone who was banded yesterday is feeling good... each day it will get better.

Everyone on this site is a great support... thanks,

Karen

That would be so awesome! I would love to do that. It would be fun and a good incentive and reward for losing the weight. Do you think one tiny cruise ship could hand all of our hotness though? LOL!!! I've never been on a cruise, it's high time!

Only 1.5 more days of this liquid diet left for me. Yesterday I almost had a breakdown, I actually envisioned ripping my son's food off of his plate and scarfing it down! Today my strategy is to stay super busy cleaning and cleaning some more to keep my mind off of food. I'm so excited for surgery! How many people can actually say that?:whoo:

Frustrated, you sound kinda, well, frustrated. I'll see if I can find any of those pills next time I'm at the store, just for you.

Dieka32, I agree you're doing the best thing you can (cleaning)to keep your mind off the food, and coming here to visit us, too. I was so glad I had a clean house to come home to. It only lasted a week, because I'm cleaning again today, but it was a nice week off for me. No worries, just total rest and relaxation.

So you joining us on our Lucky 7 July 08 cruise. Wouldn't that be a great time. Oh the looks we will get!!! We'd be out of control!!

Hello fellow Bandsters ! Tomorrow I fly to Mississauga, Ontario to get banded on July 12 with Dr. Mumford. I'm scared and nervous and excited. The preperation for the journey has been intence. Today is my birthday and I'm mixing things up at work - people think its funny that I'm showing my age - they're calling it "sometimers" instead of elzheimers ha ha - anyway little do they know I'm very preoccupied as I run around getting last minute things done - It's not that easy leaving my business and two kids behind but I'm managing to keep it together enough until I get on the plane then there's no looking back until I return on Sunday as a bandster - I'm trembling as I write this - I can't beleive it's really happening ! I'm needed at work so Chow for Now ! - Corinna

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
