Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

i'm fine now of course its not Annafrancesca fault at all, i get that, what i'm pissed at is Adam he's an insensitive ASS. .

ok so 2 questions.

1st one for people who are banded.

have you had any back pain since been banded?, if so do you know whats its from...

2nd question! for people not banded... (i'm trying not to discriminate)

How do you deal with back ache and also what do you use!?

i've never suffered with back ache and I'm not handling it too well

Dini, is it in the upper or lower back? If it's in the upper back, it can still be gas trapped from surgery, or stress. It it's lower, maybe you bent down the wrong way and didn't realize it. Have you tried some Tylenol, or maybe put the heating pad on it for a while.

Sorry Adam is being such an ass to you. You don't deserve that, and I'd make him apologize for it.

Dini, we have biofreeze over here too. I used it frequently while training for my marathon.

Just a thought, but if it's lower backpain, and you haven't had a bowel movement yet, it could be the culprit.

according to my Surgeons in Canada (TLBC) Day 6 to Day 16 post op you can go to FULL FLUIDS;, Creamy Soups -strained, protien shakes, skim milk, Jello, yogurt, diet puddings,

Then the pureed Diet 14 days in total, from DAY #17 - Day # 31 eat any foods your familyis having just put it thru a blender, Baby food is also a great alternative (especially if you are traveling), Cottage cheese, hot cerial, minced canned tuna, mashed pototoes, pureed Beans, yougurt, preed chicken, pureed carrots & fruit...

I don't know HOW you are going to keep this from your traveling buddies.. Good luck with that...

DAY #32 (post op) you can slowly start SOLID foods, and onwards from there

Our Cost here (not covered by insurance plans) is $16,000 payable in advance...

Hi Peaches, I'm being banded at TLBC too by Dr. Yau. My date is July 26th. What's yours? I start the yogurt/cottage cheese pre-op diet next week. Did my pre-op tests today.

Kathybad, I read your post and that you are getting 'done' on July 23rd at TBLC.... I am scheduled next Wed at HIGH NOON ( at the o.k. corral) I am getting so excited I can hardly c ontain myself... had all my blood work, ECG this a.m. and Chest Xray yesterday... hopefully the FAXES will get to wear they need to be on time!!!

To all the Bandsters here:

I was not an overweight child or even teenager, although I was a compulsive overeater and SUGAR-holic even then... I got away with it as I was very active, sports, drama, Judo etc...

but after I got married ( bliss!) I started taking on the 'happy' fat.... you know what I mean?

My Dh and I LOVE ICECREAM and we would buy a 2L and eat the whole thing in one or two nights... that was our 1st yr of marriage.

By the time we decided to have a family 4 yrs later, I was up to 135 from my ideal 120-125 range... WELL

while preggers I went up to 169 ( I can't wait to be THERE again!) which was a tremendous amount... my whole family made no bones about telling me how huge I was....

After DD was born, I dropped teh lbs within 6 mos.. not because of dieting but mostly PP Depression... 1st time in my life I COULD not eat.

Then within one year of her 1st Bday I started to climb again... did various diets, WW (lifer), JennyC, Beverly Hills W/L program, Herbal Magic, Xenical, Meridia, WW sprinkled in several times here or there... every time I lost wgt, it was like I was at Maintainance for about ummm 5 minutes.... then regain everythign +++

So here I am 100+ lbs over a healthy weight for my stature... I've managed in 2005 to lose 45lbs by going to the gym 4 times a week, Treadmill, eliptical, bike, weights... but this past year my WEIGHT will not budge from 195..

That's when I decided to do the Lap, been considering it for a year..

My Surg is costing $16K in Canada... but I figure if left to my own devices and I put all this weight on agian... I'd be dead.... and it would cost $16 to bury me LOL

So this is an INVESTMENT in ME

Nice chatting with you all,, sorry I was so long winded. PEACHES

I didn't know about that. They mentioned these, but not the dates. I'm from London, so it would be a bit of a drive. I'll have to see if I can swing it.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
