so here are my numbers from yesterday... Not ideal, but I was munching and scrounging in the evening... the things that put me over the top were at least healthy choices, oatmeal cake w/peanut butter, SF FF Choc pudding..... luckily I didn't have any Un=healthy stuff in the house... the oatmeal cake is 190 cals, 6 gms of Fibre and 9 gms of Protien...

Today, I will do better.... its 9.30 a.m. and am still having trouble with coffee, may have to reheat it...

Hi, Ladies--I'll bet you don't even remember who this is, it's been so long! I thought sure I'd written a post in September, about all my goings-on that were keeping me from posting, but I skimmed thru & I couldn't find it. I'm the bandster from Puerto Rico (banded July 23, '07), down 75 of the 200 I need to lose and, like Phyliser, have gone from a size 32 to a 20-22.

As I skimmed thru what I've missed, I see that grandbabies were born, hurricanes were survived, hubbies were in accidents, there's a hunt on for greyhounds (did you find one yet?), and that you're all dealing with exactly the same issues that I am.... That's a perspective I've been missing, not checking in more, and it really helps!! I think I've finally figured out how to subscribe to this particular thread, so maybe I won't get so out of touch now!

I can't fill in ALL the gaps from my long absence--gotta go vote in a bit (we don't get to vote for president, but we sure care about the outcome, and our governor elections are particularly crucial this time around). But in a quick run-thru, we celebrated our 30th anniversary in Sept. with a vow renewal ceremony (with our sons & my parents flying in to join us, & stay for a week). Then I went with my hubby on his business trip to San Francisco for a 3rd honeymoon--did some hill-climbing like I hadn't believed I could do, besides the great bonding time with him! Then we kicked into high gear for our church's Christmas Bazaar, where I'm on the planning board AND help head the crafting table as well as work with my daughter's Girl Scout troop for their participation in it, so my head's all about Bazaar until Dec. 6!

On top of that, tho, this year I'm biting the bullet and reserving a table in the Artisans' section, where I'll be selling my jewelry for the first time ever! This is HUGE for me! I love making it, love giving it away as gifts, but with the economy as it is, I can't afford my habit if I don't sell pieces, so I can buy the materials.... But I'm a HORRIBLE salesperson! Luckily, my friend worked in retail and offered to man the booth, sell my pieces for me, and give me the sales perspective that I lack. So while I'm selling our Arts & Crafts up front, and dashing to check on the Girl Scouts, she'll be representing me at the Marivali Originals table!!

'Course, that means that every minute I'm not crafting for the Bazaar, I'm making jewelry for my table, 'cause the inventory's gotta be big-time. So you can imagine how excited/scared/overextended/giddy/worried/happy/exhausted I am!!

Other than that, my weight's not moving, I'm eating sporadically & not watching it too carefully, my mother and my MIL have both had back procedures done, my hubby's had to do a lot more traveling, and my (12-year-old) daughter's had a few singing gigs, several sleep-overs, and shopping for a dress to attend a classmate's bar-mitzvah.... It was our 1st foray into the "juniors" dept. rather than kids', and she looks too grown-up (but gorgeous!) for either DH or me to handle!! Believe it or not, that may be one of the biggest stressors of all!! Sigh! What's a mother to do?!?

Anyway, you can see photos of all this and a few blog entries at marivali.com, if you want more details. I just wanted to get back onboard and try to balance out my involvements: More lapbandtalk and fewer jewelry-making sites, maybe!!

Hi there ladies! Hope you all are having a great day.

Nothing too wonderful here. I cleaned house and ran errands today. Trying to get some of my OPI stuff done for the standards stuff but doing a pretty decent job of procrastinating. Jeff is leaving for a couple of days tomorrow morning and I will be able to work all day and all evening for 2 days. At least that's the thought that allows me to be here instead of there right now.

I am able to go get a deflate next Monday. As long as I get the Protein in I'm not too worried about it I guess. I could drive the 5 1/2 hours any day or the 3 hours Monday. Since it's not critical I'm not going to go the extra.

Today I am on liquids. I tried a grilled ham and cheese with only one piece of bread and cream of Tomato Soup at lunch and chewwed until I thought there wasn't anything in my mouth...but obviously that wasn't good enough because it stuck me. Back to liquids only. I was trying to fudge the 24 hour rule my doc gives me for after a stick, but obviously they know better than me.

A friend sent me some left over Unjury she had. I didn't use it when I was on Proteins. I have a whole can of vanilla and unflavored. I put a scoop of vanilla in my coffee today and that wasn't bad. I don't know what else to do with it though. I'm going to do a thread search and see what I can find. For now a lot of tea and coffee. Warm helps. I'm going to try thinned out kashi oatmeal for dinner with some of the unflavored in it. Hopefully if I keep it thin enough it won't give me trouble.

I think I'm going to go do a little work and then turn on cnn and fox. I didn't want to watch at all today before I voted because I didn't want to hear any of the crap ads today. But I'm done now and I can't wait to hear the commentary. I chuckle at how biased the different networks are. Obviously they are struggling with the idea of reporting NEWS and not OPINIONS. But today it's done. I've voted and if my candidates don't win at least I can say, I tried. That's what I did with Bush. If you don't get out there and vote you have no right to complain about the outcome. I just hope we don't see more state shinanigans like we did in Florida a few years ago. Lawyers seem to be the only winners when that crap happens.

Alright ladies. Have a good evening. I'll be back in a few hours to post my dailies.

WOW!

Marivali!

So good to have you check back with us again!

I looked at some of your photos. Very nice.

Too bad you couldn't join us at Mall of America in July... sounds like you were in Phoenix just prior to that!

SF flower photos are beautiful.

Nice photo of you & DH, too!

I loved the wedding & vow renewal photos!

Do you have any photos of your jewelry online??

I'm really into earrings these days!

Isn't it great to be in these smaller sizes???!!

Today I wore an 18/20 shirt! It's wonderful!! I can wear an XL in some knit shirts and that is unbelievable to me! I have to restrain myself or we'd be having to buy a shed or something to put on our RV site to hold all my clothes!

DH would rather watch some recorded show on tow trucks than care who the next president is. Pisses me off but what can I say? So frustrating!

At 10 I will be turning on local news if I have to kill him to do it!

Morning ladies;

Well, I stayed up very late to watch all the news coverage.... my Hubby was pissed!!

He said "hey, I have to work in the morning, can you turn that off?"

So I slept in the basement twin bed, I have a TV down there for guests... hee,hee... and I could watch Obama to myhearts content.

Although, like Janet I am GLAD its all over... 2 yrs of campaigning is enough... you guys should do what we do here in Canada, call an election and have it 6 wks later!!! All over and done and back to the business of running the country.

I had 1 pancake for breaky today, with SF Syrop.. yum.. I really thought i could eat 2 but no way!!! So Ihave 5 to go into the freezer. I made them out of ground Oatmeal, Ground Flax seed meal, almond meal and Bisquick/eggs... really substantial.. guess that's why I could only eat one and was FULL

CBL

Steph: Have you tried just drinking liquid Protien Isopure ? it comes in various flavors and is see through and thin in consistency. I think you can buy it at GNC or better pharmacies.

Good Morning Ladies

New President and New Look for LBT

Candice for me I knew at 8:30 (11:30 your time) that Obama had won  - I stayed up and watched McCain speak - a very good man with a very gracious exit speech and I know that he will reach across the isle and do what he can to help make the changes needed to get this country back on it's feet..

You did really well with Breakfast this morning!!!!

Steph - You only have 1 t.v.???

Well, another day gotta get my butt in gear... Just cking in..

Were in the heck is Ruby???

Yeah!!! Where is Ruby??? BTW, has anyone heard from Linda lately? I know she was having trouble being kidless. I think at this point I would too. 6 months ago you wouldn't have heard me say that though.

I've tried to Isopure but it is too strong. Anything liquid is pretty much okay in my system and since I have a ton of this Unjury now I will make due with it. I need to order more protocinno shakes because they travel so well. They are great to have when family wants to eat at some place that just doesn't have any real choices for me. I seem looser this morning. Maybe it's wishful thinking. I'm going to stick to liquids and maybe try some thinned out oatmeal. Why push it?

I do have the house to myself sortof. Kids are here but Jeff left today for Billings. Will be home tomorrow night I think. At least that's his plan. So since my kids won't eat anything but mac n cheese and sandwhiches normally, I'll indulge them and do what I want for me. I'll have to come up with some yummy Soup for dinner. Maybe I'll make some clam chowder. mmmm...that sounds really good.

I'd better get to work. I have a ton of stuff to do today. I'll check back in later ladies.

Let's hear from the lurkers!!! Karri, I don't know if you are lurking or not, but hope your running is going well. You have a big run coming up I think. I've been thinking of you lately. Hope you're doing well.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
