I know there are lots of you out there who have some good ideas for me. I am having a hard finding things that are healthy that don't make me sick. I seem to have a really hard time with meat, but no trouble at all with chips and popcorn. I cannot tolerate brocolli, but corn chex go down great. I know this is really old material for this site, but can someone help please?

thank you, R

One thing i like to eat that is healthy but seems like junk food is a taso salad. The dressing lubes up the meat and everything slides down well.I use lean hamburger seasoned with taco seasoning, romaine and spinach, low fat shredded cheese, green peppers, top it with spicy salsa mixed with fat free sour cream and a handful of baked tortilla chips...yum!

Even my kids eat this!!!

Hi R,

Could you possibly be filled a little too tightly? You really should be able to eat solid Protein. I really have to chew mine a lot and I find dark or tender meat works better than chicken breast or toughter cuts of meat. I agree the bad things do go down entirely too easily but I try to replace them with healthier versions. One thing I recently found I liked were baked lays. They kind of reminds me of pringles. Something I tried tonight at my moms that was good was: some chicken (she used tenderloins but I think anything would work) 1 can of rosarita enchilada sauce, a few olives, and topped with some taco cheese. It was really good! I was thinking of making it but adding in onions and mushrooms as well. Kind of enchilada like without the tortillas. Best of luck and hope things improve, Teresa

Hi, R, are you banded? If so, what stage are you in? Are you able to eat regular foods now? Broccoli is pretty fiberous (stringy) and could cause a problem. How about just the flowerets, finely chopped and not the stalks. Have you tried cauliflower? Green Giant makes a good cauliflower and cheese (in frozen vegetable dept.) -- just microwave. Those taco salad and no-tortilla enchilada dishes sound yummy! We have a Recipe thread going under "Foods". There are some great recipes there. Just try out different things. It sounds like you prefer salty over sweet. How about some dry mini shredded wheat (for fiber) over the corn checks? What is an average day's menu for you? (Ex. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner) Are you getting your all your Water in daily? It's a constant juggling act that we all work on every day. Please keep in touch!

My answer to eating meat lies in very soft cuts or meat sliced very thin. You're not necessarily going to be able to take a big bite of steak and macerate it enough to make it easy to swallow. You're just going to have to get used to that idea. Try fish, which is a lot softer and easier to eat. And for me vegetables have to be cooked well to be tolerable (or raw, for some reason).

Thank you so much for your replies. Those are some great ideas! I think maybe I am filled a little too tightly, but think I'll just ride it out until I lose enough that it loosens up. Good news is the pounds are melting away!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
