Momma D,

Oh yeah I have that problem. I have 7 pills in the morning to take, 2 in the afternoon and 13

at night. I always at least choke on 1. It takes me a good 15 minutes to take my night meds and

go to bed uncomfortable because of all the pills and Water in my stomach. So I feel your pain

whole heartedly.

I also have a lot of meds and it took a long time to be able to swallow them without discomfort. Hang in there, it will work out for you. Try crushing them up in applesauce. That might help you.

I take several medications for mental health issues. Plus all the Vitamins. That's the price we pay to be healthy though. The only pill I got lucky enough to give up was metformin.

This has been the hardest adjustment for me since surgery! I use to be able to take a handful of pills in one swallow and never have any trouble. I was horrible at remembering all my meds I was suppose to take throughout the day, so my Drs got it down to where I could take them all at once before bed. However now getting back on and staying on my medications and taking Vitamins has been the biggest hurdle. I am blessed to be able to be taken off my blood pressure and Nexium since surgery. But, I still have SO MANY to still take.

I have tried liquid form of some-That was tragic! Dissolvable for some (and still on) and have worked my way back up to pill or capsule for others. But it is so hard and I hate it so much I find myself hitting and missing them --- missing them way more than I should.

It is just plain miserable. I have tried crushing and adding to applesauce etc. I have even tired taking nausea medicine prior to taking my meds. It is so bad now the texture of the dissolvable tabs start me gagging. I have tried going back to the regular pill form of what I can so far. But with so many it takes so long to get them down & then I feel sick or like something is stuck.

I am on several for major depression and to make it worse I am medication resistant. However, I am a real mess if I am not on medication at all. My dr is great and is trying to come up with the best recipe for me post surgery. But, it is hard when I am not being consistent with taking them.

It is also so expensive and I can't hardly afford them even with insurance. I ran out Vitamins and haven't got back on them. Now I am losing hair REALLY BAD.

I have been trying to figure out a way to EMOTIONALLY & PHYSICALLY help me take them. I have tried recruiting my husband and family to encourage & remind me & I let them know I really need it and NOT to get discouraged when I get cranky at them for telling me I need to take my medicine. Yet that is exactly what I do. I need them to tell me but I hate it when they do. Thank goodness they are putting up with me right now!

I would love to hear how others have maybe overcame something similar or what they have done.

I will be 6 mo post op on Dec 20th.

This is something that worries me. I take several medications, and I know I will probably be able to get off of the insulin and diabetes meds, but I have psych meds I won't be able to come off. I spoke with my Pdoc on Monday, and he is going to research alternatives for me, since some of my meds aren't able to be crushed.

I was lucky, no prob with meds. I take three in the morning, and four at night plus supplements...mine are fairly small except my Multivitamin. I cut that in half for awhile but can now take it whole at 4 mo this out. I take about ten minutes to take them...one at a time. I tried to take them all at once a few times but they came back up...so take it slow.

I'm on a ton of meds. I still have to crush them (sleeved 12/15) and it is nasty. It takes me 30 minutes every morning and about a hour at night. I go back to work tomorrow and I have to wake up a half hour earlier so I can take my meds! Crazy!

Not everyone is on meds. I was talking five different medications for various ailments and now take none.

Surgery was 10-28-14. At first, it was so hard to swallow pills. My throat was swollen, it seems. Now that I'm 9 ½ weeks out, it is much easier. But I resent every single pill. At the same time, I try to stay grateful.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
