Large Capacity

Recommended Posts

Hey All;

I was banded Aug.27th, and had a 4cc fill on Sept. 29th. Although I'm eating a little less than I used to, my appetite and capacity seem to grow daily.

It was a large band, and I'm due for another fill on Nov. 10th.

Although I'm down 20 lbs. since surgery, it seems like it's only due to the liquid healing diets, and self control (which I know won't last forever).

Is this all normal?

Very much normal :cool: I'm actually in the same boat you are, and I'm getting another fill on 11/4. Other people have mentioned a magical 'sweet spot' where you get just the right amount of fill, and as long as you are getting enough Water and calories in a day, and a bit of exersize you should drop a pound or two a week. They say that any weight loss before your first fill is a gift, and this can even be true before your second fill.

You and I will get our fills in November, and we'll see what happens from there :D

My case is way worse--I have a swedish band and was banded on Feb 27th. I am up to 6.2 cc's and have only lost 10 lbs. Don't give up, keep getting filled. It will work.

Hey, guys and gals, please don't despair! Remember you're not gaining! You know you would have w/o your band by now. Please drink that Water, do some form of regular exercise, and make health food choices (most of the time). Come here and "talk" to others who know just how you feel. Best of luck to all of you!

"Remember you're not gaining!"

Ain't that the truth! I got really depressed for a while, but got happier when I thought about that. I mean, the scale has not budged an inch in two months... EITHER WAY... so this is good in that sense. My mom has some interesting theories about why I'm not losing too. She says that deep in my mind somewhere my weight might be a sort of security blanket that I don't want to let go of. She says if I go out and have some fun and 'let go' I'll start melting away. :)

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
