Vegas 20 days after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Would it be an absolutely terrible idea to go to Vegas 20 days after gastric sleeve surgery? I purchased plane tickets and made hotel reservations over a year ago to take my husband to Vegas for a birthday trip, and unfortunately, the date I received from my surgeon is 20 days before my Vegas trip. Should I go and just try to stick to my post-op diet? Hopefully I can just sip on the same drink all day (so that it doesn't seem weird to the friends with us) and eat Soups when we go out to eat?

I don't know what to expect from the surgery, so I don't really know if this might be feasible or if I will have to change my date to sometime next year (*sad face*). What do you think?

Well idk if I could have did it 20 days post op sinc everyone feels differently. We are going to Vegas Dec 2nd. I will be 4 months post op and on regular food although I will probably eat off my husbands plate when we are there because the food is so dang expensive. And I don't drink or gamble yet Vegas is my favorite travel destination. Lol. Good luck to you!

Do you mean an alcoholic drink?! 20 days out is too soon to be drinking! Your stomach is still healing, and you need to stick with your post op diet. You are risking a leak if you don't allow your new little tummy to heal properly. And yes, Soups would be great to order...as long as its okay with your doctor at that time. You may have a hard time watching everyone else eat and drink I think. Just sayin'.

I was perfectly fine to travel after about a week. I had a really easy recovery. I was also on soft solids by then. Don't drink, and make sure you try for healthier items at the buffets and restaurants.

Surely to God you don't mean drink as in alcohol. Have you not read about your post op diet? I think you need to understand what you're up against. 20 days is really soon for that kind of vacation. Can you postpone the surgery? This is a really critical time in your life. My surgeon won't allow alcohol for a whole year after surgery! Much less 20 days!!!

I am three weeks post op, actually 26 days post op and on soft foods. I will be going to Vega$ this weekend, but will also be cleared for solids by then by my Doctor. I probably won't drink, and the truth probably won't eat much either, but I am going for a wedding and I like to gamble and shop so I will be good. ;) I think a lot will depend on the diet your Doctor will have you on. I know many Doctors are really strict while others are not as much. My Doctor didn't recommend that I drink but said a small glass of wine is fine after 6 weeks. Some Doctors say to wait a year, but I really think it's because they want their patient's to get the most out of their sleeve. Good luck and if you go, have fun!$!

Thanks for all the comments! I decided that it's probably not worth it and I rescheduled my surgery for January 10th (as much as I didn't want to put it off). We're going with friends and I don't want to have to come up with excuses for why I'm not really drinking or eating anything. So, I'm just counting down for January now! =)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
