Funny non-scale victory

Recommended Posts

So this morning is my 2 week surgiversary, and from beginning of two week pre op diet to today, I'm down 27 lbs total. (I had lost 10 pounds pre op and gained it all back in fluids during my hospital stay..took me 6 days to get that back off so dang it, I'm countin that in my weight loss!) Anyway, I was just in my kitchen making my 20 year old son sandwiches for his lunch and my cat jumped on the counter, as I shoved him off, my wedding rings went flying across the room in different directions, right off my finger! lol! I had just gotten them resized in June to fit my fat fingers! Guess I'll be putting them up for a bit till I get closer to goal! Then I'll get them sized for the new slimmer me!! Woohoo!

Yep, loose rings happen. It's a great feeling, as long as you don't lose them. Hey Jennifer, since you're two weeks out now is the time to warn you about.... The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. If/when you stop losing on the scale, please be assured that you're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or more. But don't worry -- after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. If you're interested, here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again like crazy!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Other NSVs to watch out for, that maybe you aren't expecting: Your shoes will start to feel sloppy big, and your bed will feel like it got bigger.

Wait till your pants and underwear start falling down in public and try to nonchalantly pull them back into place Congrats on your new journey!

Go to Claire's and get yourself some ring snuggies until you are ready to get them sized at goal.

Funny thing is that I never really had fat fingers size wise. My left ring finger was a 7. But I figure in down to a 5.5 ring size now. I looked at a picture of my hand from 2010 when I got engaged and compared them to now and my hands are downright bony in comparison! It just strikes me as bizarre.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
