She has had her surgery scheduled for several months now. I just started the process about a month ago and already have a surgery date. I didn't expect to be scheduled before her. But my surgeon said she would move me to the front of the line

Hi there - I'm a band-to-sleever too. The band worked for me at first (lost 70 pounds in the first year) but then I started having night reflux issues and ended up having to leave it pretty much completely unfilled in order to avoid issues - and I gained back all the weight and then some...

So when I got sleeved I was almost like a virgin sleever since the band was unfilled and not doing anything for me anymore. That said, versus my memory of the band when it was working - I definitely love the sleeve SO much more. I like how Bearhugs described the full feeling - that's totally right. Sometimes I did feel full with the band, but often I felt stuck rather than full. With the sleeve it really is a normal full/satisfied feeling with a small meal. I think my cravings are more under control now too.

Recovery from sleeve was a little harder than the band, but for me anyway, it wasn't too bad. I took two weeks off from work, and was glad to have the time to focus on getting all my fluids and Protein in, and rest and heal, but if I really had to I could have gone back sooner.

I wish you the best!

Well, right now, I could get another band but honestly I don't want one. Mine worked for me but I constantly was bringing up what I had just eaten, ate the slimey foods etc. I have thought about getting it just so that I don't gain anymore weight but honestly, I don't want to settle

Oh - so you are getting the sleeve - good! Hang in there, in the long run it will work out well. The sleeve is kind of awesome!

@thesuse. Thanks for sharing your journey. When I eat it feels like I have a knife stuck in my sternum. So I am looking forward to getting this band out for sure. I just hope I can lose weight with the sleeve. Right now my band is about as full as it can go and I don't eat much at all because it is painful. So my fingers are crossed that this surgery helps me. Either way the band is coming out weather the sleeve helps me lose weight or not. And peachie glad to hear this forum is helping you. If you have any questions feel free to message me anytime. I'll be glad to give you any advise or encouraging words I can. Thanks everyone

3 years from revision...couldn't be happier. Some people don't feel as full with the sleeve as it is more of a natural "stomach is no longer empty" feel over pain. Take the time to 're train the brain

I was the opposite. I could easily bring back up whatever I just ate with the band. Its probly why my band slipped. No pain. I easy stuck my finger down my throat when in pain and it would painlessly come up.

Ive been revised for 16 mths and hage vomited 3x. It was a long drawn out process which provided little results. I now eat slower (never learned that little act while banded. I now know if I take 1 more bite after feeling full i then have to live with the pain for about an hr. So Im more careful eating now.

The biggest difference for me is the bNd felt like there wS something in the way all the time. The sleeve feels more natural. I can eat anything, just mu h much less of it.

Sorry bout all the typks. Still nkt used to my new phones virtuL keyboard. If u have any ? Feels free tk pm me

Good luxk

I am scheduled to have my revision surgery on December 9 just a few days after you. I just finished my psych and went to a support group on Tuesday. I did all my blood work..wow they took a lot of blood-5 big vials. I am going for my venus dopler, stomach sonogram, pulmonary and endoscopy all within these next 2 weeks. I already did my cardiology.

I had a complete unfill about a month ago and boy it's really hard to eat in moderation with nothing stopping me. I also hated the feeling of being full but in the wrong place. It just wasn't natural.

My band hasn't slipped but I now have a hiatel hernia right next to my band. He'll repair that whilest hes in there.

All the best to you. Keep us posted!

Just had my revision on the 4th and am still recovering. It's defiantely correct that the sleeve is much tougher to recover from than the band. But, so far it's worth it. I can already tell a difference.

I had problems from my band from the beginning. The sliming, the vomiting, the pain. Turns out that my band surgeon put a metal band around my stomach instead of a beveled plastic band (what he was supposed to do). The metal band had cut a groove into my stomach and the band had adheased. Luckily for me, the groove and adhesion was in a part of my stomach that was going to get ut out anyway. My sleeve surgeon said that in a year or 2 I was going to have a real big problem.

So, I now think that the sliming and vomiting your seeing isn't normal and could indicate a problem I hope not. But, I was lucky and decided to get mine revised before my issue got very serious.

I think it's very worth it to revise.

Babelfish thanks for sharing. I definitely have been encouraged to hear everyone say they are glad they had the revision.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
