So I'm getting discharged in a couple of hours. I can't emphasize the importance of the 2 week liquid diet. My Doctor said that my liver shrunk well but that the fat around it was out of his way, which made his job easier. Moreover, my skin in my belly area was tighter which made his stapling job easier. They're already stopping my diabetes medication and my cholesterol meds. This was one of the best decisions that I ever made in regards to my health!!! :-)

Congrats to Alumace and NewJeffrey!!

May I ask what surgeries you did, and where? My RNY gastric bypass surgery is 11/19 at Kaiser in Fremont. My pre-op appointment is tomorrow.

I'm trying to get all my "ducks in a row"; like who is going to watch my dog, and I need to get some unflavored Protein powder for Stage 2.

Please share all your experiences and anything you think might be helpful for pre-ops to know. Thanks!

I had my Gastric Bypass operation at Cooper University Hospital in Camden New Jersey. I had it on Tuesday afternoon (November 4th.) And I just got home about 30 minutes ago. Besides marrying my wife Annette, and the birth of our three children, its the best moment in my life.

Congratulations NewJeffrey. Wow it is really amazing. I wish you great success for the future.

Thank you Verina. Anyone who says that this is the easy way out is just ignorant. I've set an alarm to go off every 4 hours so that I can get up and walk (It hurts to get up and sit down), take liquid pain medication, and get a 3 ounce cup of Water. So its 4am right now. Not easy.

Diyana I can't overemphasize the need to stick religiously to your pre operation diet. It will help your surgeon immensely. Also walking. It will hurt but focus in your goals for a healthier lifestyle. I'm home basically 60 hours post operation and I just took five laps around my home ( Not a big home) but getting up and moving on your own when no one is around is going to help you. Therefore, walk in the hospital where you have help. At the minimum do it three to four times a day. Morning, afternoon, evening, and then right before bedtime. I'll be praying for you. Best regards. New Jeffrey.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
