Wondering if this is normal.........

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 9/5, with no Fluid in the band. Had my first fill of 1cc on 10/22. I have felt restriction the whole time. I can probably eat more than I should, about a cup of food. I don't really feel hungry, but eat at 7, 12 & 5 (or so). I keep expecting to wake up and be hungry or be able to keep eating (normally cannot finish what is on my plate). Seems too good to be true with so little in the band.......is this normal????

From my experience? Yes. this is normal. The amount you are able to eat will vary depending on what it is, but yeah ... this is pretty normal. I now have 3ccs in my band, and I'm fluctuating between mushies and chopped foods again. This is my second fill, and it's the same as the first.

I have not been banded yet, but from what I've been reading you may only need a small fill at first. Then as you lose weight, the band might get looser and you'll need more fills. Good luck!

My first fill was 4cc's and did absolutely nothing....as a matter of fact, after my first fill I gained weight.

It was not until my 2nd fill of 2 cc's, for a total of 6, did I begin to notice anything....and it took the third fill to get to the green zone

Everyone responds differently...there are people on this forum years into it and have never had aa fill and have been 100% successful....

there are also people here that never experience that "Perfect" balance....and "Fall off the wagon" or "Get off track" even after a few years.

It is different for everyone. Got my band 4/1/14 and only have had one fill and they put 1.5 cc in my band. I am down 75 pounds and really don't feel that I need a fill any time soon, but again the could change any day. Keep doing what your doing and you will know when you need another fill.

Thank you so much. The band has really changed my life and my relationship with food.

I was also banded on 9/5/14. Was shocked to find out I had 5 cc ' s in my band from the start. Didn't think I had anything. I got a fill on 10/3 of 1cc. Total of 6cc ' s. Still can eat anything just not as much. Going for my 2nd fill tomorrow and am hoping to get some of this restriction thing that everyone is talking about.

I still only have 1 cc....starting to eat a little too much. Hoping next fill will help.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
