My sister is obese and she used to complain that she was getting fatter because I wasn't eating all my food and she was eating hers and some of mine when we would go out to dinner together. But last night, she suggested we share the entree as it was part of the dinner menu so it included Soup or salad along with two side dishes. That and the free stuff like pickles and cole slaw was plenty for her and more than enough for me.

If I can change her eating habits for the better, even if it's once in a while, that makes me happy. Is this then considered a NSV?

if you are able to walk.......that is a NSV

if you can wipe your ass.....that is a NSV

if you can put your own socks on.....that is a NSV

if you can sit on a chair or bed no longer fearing it breaking...that is a NSV

these are some of my personal NSV's after i had WLS

i did not care what the scale said (still dont as i go by losing inches/clothes getting bigger on me)

i did not care if i ever got to be a size 2

i wanted to be able to do those things

merely WALKING without fear of passing out due to heavy breathing

merely sitting down somewhere not being scared the chair would break

(like in the movie shallow hal)

trust me, those NSV mean a lot MORE than a stupid ass number on a scale

when you go from wearing a TIGHT size stretch 30 to a snug 12/14 ......you understand

when inches lost means losing TRUE weight...

I still like that my kids tell me things like your legs are skinny or grabs my arm to get my attention & speak to me & says you're all bones we were joking around & I told one of them of course my youngest that I was going to kick him well he said something as like you probably couldn't even balance on one leg for 30 seconds so I kicked him jokingly & then told him you didn't think I could lift my leg that high we started loling then I showed him I did balance on one leg for 30 seconds , WE got a real kick out of it. Well I finally found out that after wearing a size 52 in men's jeans , I tried to fit in a size 38 , well I have a little more ways to go but I now know that I fit in a size 40_42 & that's in a men's Levi jeans so I would consider that a nsv I guess I went down about 10 sizes in 2 year the size 38s just didn't want to fit over my hips just yet .

I am the kind of person that likes to weigh every day (for good or for bad) and am very results-oriented. So sometimes it is hard to look at the scale and not see a change and yet think in terms of NSV's.

Taking some before and 'after' pictures for me has been very rewarding! I couldn't believe what a difference just 20 pounds made.

Also, my mother-in-law called me quite some time back and asked what bra size I wore because she was at a department store and they were having a mad sale. I was so embarrassed to tell her the truth (band size, not cup) that I told her 2 sizes down. and of course I couldn't wear them. That was probably over a year ago. But guess what?! I can fit into them!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
