I don't weigh 345.8lbs Anymore! Woot! Woot!

Recommended Posts

I started my weight loss journey 2/2014. I weighed in at 345.8lbs my body weight index was right at cut-off point for the doctor to deny me for the surgery. But he had faith in me that I would lose the excess weight, and I did! I had my surgery 9/29/2014! I weighed in @ 325.6lbs and as of 10/25/2014 1 currently weigh 294.6...Because I was so use to over eating this process has been a lot of trial and error. I am still trying to learn how to chew food that long. I get stuffed so quickly that sometimes I feel like eating, is not worth the hassle. I have come to love and appreciate applesauce though. Most foods simply don't stay down and the foods that manages to pass threw come back because my stomach rejects it. liquids stay down very well. So I may just stick with liquids and applesauce. I have noticed that when I don't chew well, I feel like crap...meaning I feel full, stuck, sluggish, constipated... That is why I prefer the liquid sand applesauce. I trying hard to consistently take the Vitamins but like I said this period is a lot of trial and error. My taste buds have truly changed for a lot of my favorite foods. I have never had so many Popsicles before either. I also Google and You-Tube everything. As for the Protein shakes... It is trial and error too. But I am getting better. I haven't started losing any hair but I would shave my entire head to be healthier. So this is my introduction and my story!

Congratulations on your weight loss. This whole process is one of constant change. It took me 6 months before I reached a happy state, where all the minor problems disappeared or I found fixes for.

Congrats on your weight loss and I wish you continued success. It's really important to get those sources of Protein in. I will be a week post-op Tuesday and realize how hard it is but oh so important. Thanks for sharing about your journey.

Grats to ALL!! I am 3 years out in a few weeks!! Lost 120 initially, have found a few back...... but its all a journey, a learning process, a new ME!! Don't fight forcing the foods that you handle well. Focus on what works, it is a constant change. Just remember Protein, protein, protein!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
