My surgery date is tomorrow (Dec. 16th). Im nervous, scared, excited, and happy all at the same time. I just pray and hope that the surgery and my recovery goes well. Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey.

I'm Dec 31st! 16 more days... I guess I'll be the last of the December group and 2014. I am so very ready. Since I'm the last of the group, I'll benefit from all you other December folks and your stories / advice.

I have to say, I am so proud of each one of you for making this hard, life-changing decision. This is a commitment to a new life. And, unlike some people say, this is NOT the easy way out. It will have ups and downs... and we will endure and make it to the other side where we will be happy and healthy. We will love life! Congratulations to us all. We deserve this. It's a Christmas gift to ourselves. ;) Blessings to each of you!

Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement. I will have to admit I have had some very low points this last week. Its a very difficult but truly rewarding transition. From two weeks pre-op to today. I have lost 41 pounds and already feel so much better. Proud of you too for making this life changing decision as well.

@@WRIGHTLE Yes my surgery was on Monday, December 15th. Just 3 days post op. I'm struggling with my liquids. Hopefully it'll get better soon. The trapped gas is horrific for me and nausea. I vomited (sorry for the tmi) horribly as soon as I got to my room after my procedure. I've had issues with nausea coming in waves ever since. I also vomited a bit today.

I noticed that I'm very particular with smells and textures of foods right now. Hopefully it's because my stomach is a little weak right now. The only thing that's somewhat agrees with me is warm tea, crystal light, and Popsicles. Lol. I have this Isopure drink from the Vitamin Shoppe I'm using to try to get some Protein in, but one bottle has lasted me three days, lol.

MyssJones, I survived the first five days on broth and red popsicles.... make sure you're walking - walking - walking... it helps with the pain. Sipping CONSTANTLY on Water, juice, broth... you'll get your Fluid in. Talk to your doc about some nausea meds, though - I can't imagine the pain of heaving.

FWIW, 7 days out I felt SO MUCH BETTER.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
