Pre-Op... Two more steps done and out of the way!

Recommended Posts

I'm feeling really good today :)

Had my psych eval - PASSED :)

Had my pre-op w/ Nut - PASSED :)

Lost another 4 pounds - :D

I have my 4th physician supervised visit next Tuesday, then I only have 2 more visits with her to go, and I'm off to insurance approval.

I also went to My bariatric pantry website today and ordered all of the sample packs of Protein powders. I'll report back on what I think of them. I already received my sample packs of unjury... tried the chocolate Splendor already... not the best I've ever had, but it is tolerable. My current favorite is still Muscle Milk Cookies & Cream

Muscle Milk Cookies and Cream really is the best tasting Protein powder out there!! My local Walmart used to have it but they don't now so I'll be ordering it online!!!

My surgeon requires the 6 month supervised diet to be done with the program dietitian and I had my last pre-op appointment with her this afternoon! They may have already submitted to insurance, if not it will be done tomorrow morning.

That is awesome.... Mine was 3 months however a co-worker wouldn't work without me in the office for my first so was postponed an additional month. Not to happy about that but now if all goes well should be before Christmas. So excited!!!

Found out my insurance requires a pre op medical clearance before they will approve..... so. threw me back a couple of days however tomorrow is that appointment. Everything will go to insurance tomorrow and already have lab slip for gall bladder ultrasound. EKG is already completed since the doc said within the year was good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
