Please tell me if your nose gets smaller after weight loss surgery?

Recommended Posts

I will find out next year as I lose the weight. I just want my face back. Double chin gone, the two lines around my mouth starting from my nose down looks like one big frown. I hate it. It's the puffy cheeks that is causing it. I am turning 50 in a couple of weeks I should start on some creams. Sigh...I know I won't look like 20 again but I will settle for 30!

Have a good day everyone!

Mine definitely did.I noticed a picture I'd myself from about a year and a half ago and I looked like a bear cub. It totally looks like I've had a nose job now.

So excited at the possibility of not having to try every 9W shoe in creation to find one that fits. I will probably be a 8 1/2 since I get an extra size for the width. Chubby feet, bye, bye!

I have the same " ( - ) " around my mouth. Can't wait to see them gone.

Your nose is not big @bellabill. It looks absolutely proportional but I suspect a little layer of fat will go but bone and cartilage will stay.

BAHAHA mouth got bigger. AMEN. My nose didn't get smaller, per se. It just wasn't stretched across my face anymore.

You'll be amazed by the difference. When I look at pics from when I was heavier, it really looks like someone pumped up my face like a balloon and now everything has shrunk. Just know that at your age (and mine...56) you may see a turkey neck where the double chin once was. I even saw more lines in the face, not less. But that can be fixed. I had filler injected in the 'comma lines' and it looks much better now. My mouth doesn't turn down at the edges like it used to. It's subtle, but I can see the difference.

. I really do want comma lines to disappear even if I have to do Botox ! We shall see!

You'll lose weight all over, so that includes face, nose, ears, etc. I can't wait to lose fat in my fingers and toes.

However, cartilage continues to grow until the day we die - so noses, ears, etc. do get bigger the older we get, naturally. :)

Not liking cartilage growth as we age. Ughh!

I think it does. seems like all facial features got smaller. When I look at pictures from last year at my family reunion, my nose looks wider or something. May be just my imagination.

This has got to be one of the most adorable NSVs out there if its true lol. Ive been squishing my face reading the thread and wondering if part of it might have to do with how chubbier cheeks would stretch or push against nostrils depending on the facial features... But those nostrils are funny little things lol, and i can imagine when we were heavier they had to do a little more work huffing and puffing and flaring to catch us some breath! Poor little noses lol

I am 18 months post-op and I haven't noticed that my nose got any smaller after surgery. I did notice that my shoulder shrunk. I had many jackets and coats for the winter. I thought that I might be able to still use them. Boy was I wrong. Losing weight at the shoulders meant that the sleeve length of my coats and jackets became longer. The cuffs now fell below the tips of my fingers. They gave me the appearance of Dopey in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
