Completed my last appointment today! Hallelujah! So much information, overload!

Kaiser only requires a two day liquid diet one day full liquids one day Clear Liquids two days prior to surgery.

Thankfully I've been following their pre-op diet on and off since May and I'm still losing weight on my own. I would love to get down another 10 pounds before my surgery.

But I am having my farewell dinners in lunches just a few things that I don't know that I'll ever be able to tolerate again.

Our nutritionist said again today some people cannot handle sugar or really greasy foods they get dumping syndrome even with the sleeve. It's amazing though when you are eating and making better choices how those foods don't feel good anymore... Happy for that!

I firmly believe nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. :)

I thought for sure I'd be sleeved in December but after a phone call with my coordinator yesterday it looks like I could be sleeved in November!!! She said since my primary insurance is Medicare I could get a reply in just a few days!! (Medicare at 36 years old isn't what I'd call a great thing though). After approval she said it's about 3 weeks until surgery.

That is good my office was 4-6 weeks out and longer at the end of the year. So glad you got an earlier date.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
