New Guy - Surgery Nov. 17

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I have been lurking on this site since I started my journey in March but I have not posted at all. I'm not really the "share my feelings" type. I'm trying to work on that so here goes.

Like most of us, I simply decided enough is enough in my life and it was time to start living. After about three years of research on wls I finally made the decision to be healthy. I have lost about 40 lbs. on my six month pre-op diet and I feel much better! This success makes me feel cautiously optimistic. There are so many things I want to be able to do; sky diving, triathlons, scuba diving. I feel very committed but now that I have a surgery date, I am feeling nervous. I know this is normal but I feel like it is a big chance, which means big success or big failure!

I would like to thank everyone for sharing on this site. It has been such a great resource. So many of the questions I had, some of which I would have been to embarrassed to ask, have been answered on here.

Good luck to everyone and I look forward to continuing this journey with you all.

I'm Nov 5th. Started my pre-op diet today. It's been somewhat rough but I know after some of the detox process is over it should get better. It's my birthday week. Our daughters are fixing my bday lunch tomorrow but like I told a couple of people, ill be rocking the pre-op shake and healthy request cream of something Soup with sugar-free Jello for dessert! Lol! It's ok! A small price to pay for long-term health!

I start my preop diet on Monday also. I'm totally nervous this time and I know it is because I had the problem with the lap band and getting sick at the beginning of the year, I'm just afraid it is going to happen again. And I get even more scared because this surgery is not reversable like the lap band was.

I'm sure you'll be fine. As long as we can get through. This pre-op diet. It's comforting to know you guys are suffering through this with me. For me its day 4 and its been a little rougher than I thought

Hi everyone this is my first post on here. I had my bypass on February 24th. I have lost 114 pounds from my heaviest. My advice is follow the rules and don't eat before your doctor tells you to. I did great and would do it again. I only had trouble with a few foods and now I can eat anything just not in the amounts as before surgery. A new way of life and I love it. Good luck.

I am a week ahead of ya all. Big dude I share many of your sentiments. I lost quite a bit (before surgery, very strict diet) and started participating in triathlons. Then had a set back with an injury and an automotive accident and rapidly put the weight back on. However, I truly understand your thoughts.

Just a little funny something to make ya laugh for today.... My Triathlon Strategy

Don't Drown

Don't Crash

Don't Quit

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
