November Sleevers, let's buddy up

Recommended Posts

@@roundisashape I was trying to research that online and here on BP. I'm thinking 2-3 shakes/isopure drinks a day and one meal. Same as you! I was going to try the unflavored Protein in broth and Soup to kind of experiment with it. I'll probably do Clear Liquids and sugar free Jello starting 3 days before (11/11) too.

I have been preparing myself on an off by replacing meals with shakes. I'm going to try powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and/or Optifast for the week before surgery. I hear they are really good and so far I don't live any that I have I just tolerate them really. Except the Syntrax nectar I live! Bad after taste but who cares. I'm starting nov 1 and my surgery is. Nov 6. I

I had to lose weight before and I did it by eating clean and just maker better choices but was a slow 25 lbs. the shakes only will get a nice jump start to this new life!

I have had to lose 38lbs before surgery. I've still got 14lbs to go but they went ahead and scheduled me for the 4th and have until my pre-op on 10/27 to get there. I've been averaging a pound a day on my own sort of modified diet that I've cleared with my dietician.

Basically, I have 3 shakes, one Cocotein and either a can of tuna or chicken for dinner. I'm switching it up and having the meal for lunch tomorrow to see if it makes a difference in my hunger.

I use MFP and log everything. I keep my Protein % above 50 and my carbs 20% or less.

I won't lie. I'm hungry. But my energy level has pretty much stabilized. I've even been spending 30-40 minutes a night on the treadmill. I work for a cell phone company and spend about 80% of my day on my feet. I think what I'm doing now is setting me up for a fairly easy post-op adjustment. Fingers crossed! :-)

The nutritionist at the Office I'm using gave us a great tool. I lost 10 pounds in 12 days. I was more than excited!

Basically, you just pair a Protein and carb with a fruit or veggie about 5 times a day. I am eating more often but much less than usual. I haven't had a soda or candy and cut wayyyyy back on sweets as of July 1 when I made the decision to have WLS.

I'm praying for November! I went last week to my final nutrition appointment. Yesterday the insurance coordinator called me and said that my insurance has been denying people due to the length of time between appointments so I have to go one more time.....Nov. 13!!!! But, she said she will get the surgical coordinator to call me and schedule tentatively for the week of Thanksgiving!!!! She said my insurance approves in a matter of days. So, im praying it works out because my deductible of $1000 starts over Jan. 1!!

Did you get a date yet? I'm trying to gather a list and make a group of us for Nov. Haven't figured it out yet. I'm thinking we all have to be friends first ? If your profile shows your date there is another way to view Nov sleevers but most if us were not showing last time.

hi, all. i'm pending insurance approval, and i just got pushed out of october by my surgeon's office because they're now all filled. sigh. tentatively scheduled for 11/4.

i am so disappointed, as i was all along on track for either 10/21 or 10/28. the waiting is awful, isn't it?

oh well. more time to prepare, i guess.

I'm surprised a Surgeon wouldn't recommend a Pre-Op diet since I was told it is to shrink the liver which makes it easier for the Surgeon to get to the stomach...I have also heard that if the Surgeon can't get to the stomach because of the liver, they will close you up and try again at another time....just what I have heard...has anyone else heard this?

I have heard that too! That is exactly why I am doing a self-imposed pre-op diet. Don't want to take any chances. Besides, losing a couple pounds (hopefully) before surgery can't hurt! I also think it will help me prep better for the post-op diet.

My surgeon requires either a 5% or 10% loss pre-op depending on your BMI. It's to lower complication risk and shrink the liver. I've lost 25lbs as of today. Still have 14 to go so my dietician put me on full liquids starting today so I don't miss my target and have to postpone surgery.

I have to do a 15 day pre op diet, it is required. And yes it is all about the liver.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
