Hello everyone,

I am excited to say I made the decision to get he band. I am extremely nervous, but I must say this site has really helped me. I have been lurking for the last 3 months reading as much as I can from my fellow banders. My surgery is Friday 11/7 at he Day One clinic in Chicago. I start my liquid diet on 10/25.

Good luck! There are many lap band veterans on here should you have problems! Just make sure to follow your doctor's orders before and after surgery! Let us know how it works out! And welcome aboard.

Hi

I got banded on August 30,2014. I have only lost 8 pounds to the day. Am hungry all the time. Am always thinking that my band has slipped because I eat pretty much whatever I want. Am walking 30 minutes every other day. I get my first fill on October 21,2014 I hope my hunger will go away. But am still trying to figure out the whole chewing and smaller amounts and the right foods to eat. Any advice

Thanks for reading

Brown eyes I bought Alex Brecher book The Big Book on Lap band off Amazon. It is a very good read. Maybe it will help with the hunger, Protein is the key.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
