My family is having some problems and I'm highly stressed. When I get stressed I won't eat or it's misery when I try. I've lost 4 lbs in 3 days. TRYING to at least get down A Protein Shake during the day and some almonds but I have no interest in drinking. I can't do any more or I get really nauseous. Advice?

I understand that stress can definitely affect our eating, whether we eat more or, in your case, less. It doesn't make any sense to suggest you try to eat more; I'm sure you're doing the best you physically can.

My suggestion is to try to practice some stress reduction techniques, such as meditation, walking or other exercise, or writing about it. I've found that writing about a problem reduces the stress it causes, for some reason... I guess it's because you're getting it out of your head and onto paper, so you don't have to think about it as much.

If you think this is horrible advice, totally disregard it! That being said, I have days or even occassionally almost a week at a time where either due to stress or other obligations I just don't feel like eating. I have learned to appreciate those times because there are also plenty of days where I more than meet my calories and nutrition goals. So I lose a few pounds one week because I didn't eat much, in a few days my appetite will be back and I'll be right back on track and likely gain back a pound or two until I lose it a little more naturally later. As long as it isn't a persistent situation, you're not dehydrated, and you are eating a bit of food, a few days of minimal calories won't hurt you. Hope your life gets less stressful soon! :)

That is EXACTLY what happens! Thank you both for your kind advice!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
