Sleeved on Monday I was shocked

Recommended Posts

Monday at noon I got sleeved, I was shocked at how much pain I was in when I woke up. The surgeon described it as a few days of being uncomfortable but this was torture. The pain stayed at a 10 for a long time on day three it settled to a five and now I am home and the pain is mostly an annoyance. I'm having trouble getting all my Water down, hopefully I won't regret this surgery. I look forward to reading your posts for motivation and support.

I didn't have any pain at all, and was up walking within a few hours, and shopping in two days, everyone is different. I was sleeved on Sept 14, 2014 and I still only get maybe 10-20 oz of Water in (I'm drinking ice tea), it's hard to drink when your not thirsty and you can only sip. It's a full time job trying to get it in, but keep at it, it's been just as difficult to get the Protein in for me.

I was told.the pain was the equivalent of my gall bladder surgery. That was bull. I was in pretty severe pain on my right side when I woke up and was until I got my morphine pump :) Once I had that, the pain was was totally tolerable even after I got home. Everyone is different!

@@Babbs I completely agree. My gallbladder surgery was a walk in the park and this was nothing in comparison. I was dressed and home an hour after waking up from my gallbladder surgery and never took any pain medication. I believe I had lots of morphine on the day of the sleeve surgery and needed pain meds for a few days after.

What's nice though is the hardest part is over. I still have some incision site discomfort and weakness but it's minimal. The only thing I'm afraid of now is throwing up from overeating.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
